Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brianne Costa. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Brianne, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
Overcoming imposter syndrome can be a challenging journey, but it’s definitely possible with the right mindset and strategies. Personally, I have found that acknowledging my feelings of self-doubt and recognizing that they are just that – feelings – has been a crucial first step. Instead of trying to push these thoughts away, I’ve learned to accept them and then challenge them. I remind myself of my accomplishments and the skills and knowledge that I have acquired along the way. Seeking support from friends, family, or a mentor has also been extremely beneficial. Having someone to talk to who understands and can provide a different perspective has been incredibly reassuring. Additionally, setting realistic goals and celebrating small victories has helped me build confidence over time. I’ve learned to embrace the learning process and accept that it’s okay to not have all the answers. By focusing on growth and progress rather than perfection, I’ve been able to gradually diminish the impact of imposter syndrome on my life and work.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1. Resilience: The ability to bounce back from setbacks and keep moving forward has been essential. My advice for those early in their journey is to actively work on building resilience by reframing setbacks as learning experiences and finding healthy ways to cope with stress.
2. Adaptability: Being open to change and willing to adjust my approach when necessary has been crucial. My advice for others is to embrace new challenges and seek out opportunities to step outside their comfort zone in order to develop adaptability.
3. Continuous learning: The willingness to seek out new knowledge and constantly improve has been a driving force in my journey. I encourage those starting out to stay curious, be open to new ideas, and actively pursue learning opportunities to grow and develop their skills.
Do you think it’s better to go all in on our strengths or to try to be more well-rounded by investing effort on improving areas you aren’t as strong in?
I personally believe that it’s important to strike a balance between focusing on our strengths and working on our areas of improvement. Playing to our strengths can help us stand out and excel in specific areas while investing effort in our weaknesses allows for personal growth and development.
I’ve experienced the benefits of focusing on strengths in my own career. By honing in on the areas where I naturally excel, I’ve been able to make significant contributions and achieve success. However, I’ve also found that dedicating time to improving my weaker areas has led to a more well-rounded skill set and a greater sense of accomplishment.
Ultimately, I think it’s valuable to leverage our strengths while also addressing areas that need development. It’s all about finding that equilibrium to become the best version of ourselves.
