Meet Bridget Sinha

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Bridget Sinha a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Bridget, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

Finding my purpose was a combination of passion for wellness and an apparent need in the community. The vision of Balanced started many years ago, with wanting to develop a wellness space. A space that does not fix a small problem, but rather a space that helps develop a whole person.

The typical insurance-based physical therapy clinic is focused on a singular problem. That is not a bad thing. There is absolutely a need for that in the medical setting. If you tore a tendon in your shoulder or had a knee replacement, you need physical therapy focused on repairing that tendon or recovering from that surgery. Similarly, a fitness studio is focused solely on exercise. Again, an absolutely needed service.

What I found was a disconnect. Where is the in between? What about those of you who don’t have a “problem” to fix, but aren’t quite feeling your best? You don’t have an “injury”, but on again, off again pain has been plaguing you for years? You aren’t limited, per se, but you think twice before getting on the floor to play with the grandkids or second guess whether the hour at the driving range with friends was a good idea.

Shouldn’t there be a place that you can go to maintain the strength you have, while also getting better? A place that helps you not have to live with the fear of how you will feel by tomorrow morning.

That place is Balanced Physical Therapy & Pilates, and it’s where I wanted help you find… well… that balance! Our goal is to help you live your life doing the activities you love, pain-free!

Every day we help active adults dealing with on again, off again pain get back to the things they love. Back and neck pain can be so frustrating. We understand the challenge of having to think twice before everything you do because you are afraid pain will come later. Our goal is to help people feel confident, strong, not afraid to move, not afraid to join the girls for active days or vacation with their active families. Live the active life that you want without the fear of what tomorrow morning is going to feel like.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

At Balanced Physical Therapy & Pilates, we offer semi-private Pilates classes and customized 1:1 physical therapy care. Our team includes doctors of physical therapy and licensed Pilates instructors dedicated to helping every client overcome pain and improve their overall health and well-being.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Communication skills, customer service, and clinical skills come third
While it is important to hone your craft and be technically great at whatever it is you do (for me this is my skills as a physical therapist and Pilates instructor, I think it is a least important of the three. If you cannot communicate well with your clients to understand what they need and how they best respond to treatment, then the best clinician in the world couldn’t help them. Great customer service makes the clients feel welcomed, supported, and relaxed, when they’re going through a tough time. That is another differentiating factor that clients do not expect in a healthcare setting and can make a world of difference for their recovery. Honing all three of these skills has been crucial and an important focus for those early in their careers.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?

Unreasonable Hospitality by Will Guidara
After years of schooling to become a physical therapist, I knew lots about treatment but very little about how to run a business well. This book gave such great insight into creative ways to provide stellar customer service. It is about the restaurant industry but applicable to any niche!
