Meet bridget weiser

We were lucky to catch up with Bridget Weiser recently and have shared our conversation below.

Bridget, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

Confidence is something we’re all born with yet it’s so easy to forget that. Self awareness taught me that I have inherited beliefs that made me feel like self love can disappear on you. You must unlearn a lot of ideas and words that make you feel like things aren’t working out. You can feel insecure and not lose anything. You can feel lost and that could actually make things more interesting. I try not to put myself in a position to betray myself. You don’t ever have to negotiate with your sense of integrity. When you learn to relax —your reality changes. People can feel your magnetism when you allow things to just happen. You feel uncertainty when you’re forcing things to happen. The trick is to live in the unknown and distract yourself from the mind. The dark and the light can exist at the same time. There is no wrong you can’t make right again and confidence is a side effect of your thinking. When you trust yourself, and you’re a friend to yourself, decision making becomes an art form.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I’m an abstract oil painter and stylist. I feel deep emotions and my paintings represent that. I love fashion and helping people get dressed. I’m also a collector of beautiful things. My third eye rarely blinks and my love for uplifting people has given me some crazy and powerful insights. My intuition is constantly telling me where to go. I think once you begin to invent things and co-create with the forces of the universe, something expands within your body and soul. Lately, I’ve been working on a second solo exhibition. My newest paintings are ready for an audience and this is something I can feel. Each season in LA gives me new ideas and I’ve been creating with the intention of always getting back to nature. I was scouted by Condé Nast this year and they gave me some press and exposure…that really validated my work. It’s not easy to admit this but I look for validation when it comes to my art. I want people to enjoy what I’ve done with my time. I can only hope someone will feel my spirit when they see my work.

I started a new business this year as well. People hire me to rearrange their closets and help them get rid of useless/ lifeless items. I then help build a capsule wardrobe for each season. I can show up for two or three hours and people immediately feel a shift in their lives. It’s a tremendous feeling to witness their transformation.

I am always looking to connect and collaborate. I’m a moment to moment person so this always leaves room for surprises. What a difference it makes when you can create from your imagination instead of your past.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I believe that having a relationship with spirituality is incredibly important. You need space and patience to understand who you are. It’s the ability to add to your story that makes life more fulfilling. Self regulating is one of the greatest ways to get what you want. Going on walks, listening to music and writing things down are really helpful. I’ll do anything that allows me to forget about myself. Overthinking is useful and it’s definitely something I do often but I have to distract myself from constantly trying to control everything. You have to gain skills that create a road map to your nervous system. You can’t ever see giving up as an option. The greatest things take time and nothing good ever gets away.

I think one of the coolest things you can do  as an artist is disappear for a while because it gives you the chance to re-emerge. Go find things that change your life. I like to move forward and notice things along the road that indicate where I should go. Stay open and allow influence.

I think you can separate yourself from your fears. You know what you should do and it’s often scary to do it. Choices are sometimes the hardest part but it’s such a deliberate way to live. The moves you make are what define you.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

Whenever I feel overwhelmed I let myself gravitate towards something that soothes me. Whether it’s sharing a deep conversation with someone I trust or just talking to myself differently helps. I think it’s always a good idea to take breaks. The way I work, I have to turn myself upside down and hang myself by my ankles just so I can complete a painting. I have to get quiet because I think that’s when something good comes out. In silence you hear who you’re going to become. I don’t want outside forces to interrupt positive momentum. It’s a deliberate way to live but it’s a part of the process. You have to get to a place where you feel free, like you could do anything. I don’t like feeling sorry for myself and I usually stay away from that kind of energy. Hang around people that are in pursuit of their dreams. Your environment is everything when you’re creating something — being mindful of what you allow in your space is imperative. I always know when something feels right.
