We were lucky to catch up with Brigitte Sinoradzki recently and have shared our conversation below.
Brigitte, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
Work ethic has been a part of my nature since the beginning. I have always had a drive to do more, better. It is something I can’t really put a finger on, but I strive to do more for my family, my clients, and myself – always. I’m a fast worker, which is something that benefits me in the fast paced and ever-changing marketing world.
I actually enjoy the multitasking aspect of working with multiple clients. There’s nothing like the feeling of being part of their growth and the partnerships and friendships we have formed are irreplaceable.
The care I have for each of my clients and my own brand propels me and keeps me motivated to work harder and get everything done that I can, and more. At the end of the day I love helping others, and my job allows me to do so by bettering my client’s businesses through marketing.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Kai Communications started with a dream that turned into reality. After being in the corporate world for 15+ years, I wanted to take a shot at doing things my way. Its difficult to have marketing visions turn into reality when you work for someone else. I also was always intent on leading a team with grace and compassion, something that is often missing in large corporations.
Kai Communications is a boutique marketing firm that consists of myself and two other incredible team members. Together we manage about 12 clients. No two clients are the same, and we align our goals with theirs to ensure marketing success. It is a true collaboration with everyone we work with, many of whom we are pleased to call friends at this point.
We have had many clients that have been on board with us 3 or more years, which is much higher than the industry standard. We also do not “lock clients” into long-term contracts, only month-to-month. Our high retention rate can be attributed to our attention to detail, thorough communication with clients, delivering high-quality work, and relationship building.
We customize every marketing plan we have in place, and the bulk of what we do is digital marketing, website creation, social media management, email campaigns, graphic design, search engine optimization and more. Being in corporate communications for so long has enabled me to see things from the client’s side, and understand thoroughly what their needs and expectations may be.
Our team is completely dedicated to the work we do, and we take great pride in ourselves and our client’s success.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
1. Resilience. This speaks to having faith that things will work out, but also putting in the work to ensure that it does. I think many businesses fail because they falter after things get difficult. Difficulty is part of growth and is something to work through, not a reason to give up. Especially when Kai was first started, I certainly hit some road blocks, but it was all about plowing forward and RESILIENCE to keep moving forward. If I had made the decision to stop my efforts with Kai in the beginning and not to find ways around the road blocks, we wouldn’t be where we are today. As an example, I had a client in the early days of the business who would bring me to tears. I was working by myself at that point and money was tight and I felt stuck. I ended up peacefully relinquishing our working relationship because I knew it was never going to work, and the negative energy it was producing was keeping me “stuck.” After letting him go I got my first big monthly retainer, and continued to grow from there. Was it a scary leap of faith? Yes. Was it worth it? Absolutely.
2. Relationship Building. The people you surround yourself with and know can make or break your business. Kai Comm gets most of our business through referrals, and this is strictly because of the relationships we have fostered with our clients and people in the community. I also am a big believer in never burning bridges, and many of my old bosses and CEOs I used to work with have become cherished mentors to me today. They are a sounding board, genuinely happy for my success, and have also given us projects themselves. Building meaningful relationships with the right people throughout your life is paramount to success in life and business.
3. Patience. Many aspects of my life have taught me patience. One of the biggest being a mother to my dear son. He’s 5 now, my favorite person in the entire universe, and a huge reason why I move forward with gusto in my work, so he can have everything he needs and more. But, all children are a challenge, and require a lot of attention. Which is an absolute pleasure but can be a lot to handle. It has taught me immense patience with clients, dealing with different personalities in business, and learning curves with both new employees and new clients.
Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
We currently have a healthy variety of clients, ranging from wealth advisors and financial planners to luxury real estate and transportation/travel. Our ideal client is someone who comes to us with an open mind and true enthusiasm for their business growth.
We are an agency that works hard while having fun. We are serious about our work and also serious about getting to know our clients personally so that we can make their brand shine. We do our best work with corporate clients and business owners who have a vision but can’t quite bring it together, that will trust us to take the lead in marketing.
