We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brinda Bhatt. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brinda below.
Brinda , thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
To me, resilience is not a fixed trait. It can be cultivated and improved throughout one’s life through a combination of factors. I have faced a tremendous amount of adversity and use my problem solving and coping skills to successfully navigate difficult situations. I have a very strong support system of my family and close friends, I maintain a daily morning and evening self care routine including prayer, meditation, exercise, and proper nutrition which help me develop a positive mindset to see setbacks as opportunities for growth to enhance resilience. Lastly, I learn from mentors and role models who inspire and guide my development of resilience.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I recently transitioned into Real Estate as an agent with the Marc Hernandez Group at Compass in Beverly Hills, California. My professional background includes a Law degree and a decade-plus-long career as a successful Talent Agent at United Talent Agency and a Partner/Talent Manager, Producer with Artistry Collective. I love talking to and helping people. As an agent, I am at the forefront of helping clients find their dream homes, make strategic investments, or embark on new chapters in their lives. It’s a profession that constantly challenges me with unique properties, diverse clients, and ever changing market dynamics. The sense of accomplishment that comes from successfully connecting a client with their ideal property and the satisfaction of facilitating a smooth transaction is truly rewarding. It is a win-win for my client and myself! Moreover, the flexibility of the job and potential for financial success make it an enticing career choice as I thrive in a dynamic and people-oriented field.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Curiosity has been a powerful force for me since I was young. I ask a lot of questions and I like to try and learn new things. Being curious has helped me explore, learn and grow. I tried, and learned, all different types of sports and if I was good at it, I stuck to it (played Division 1 Women’s Lacrosse at Rutgers University). Being curious has helped me seek out new experiences and opportunities which has led to my personal and professional growth. Going to law school helped foster creativity and problem-solving skills enabling me to adapt with what life throws at me. I am an avid learner thriving on continuous self-improvement and always seeking out opportunities to navigate through my life with confidence and enthusiasm. I believe curiosity is one of the most important characteristics for success in business. Take the time and explore new opportunities, do not dismiss them.
Daily Routine has been impactful both in my personal and professional growth. I wake up between 4:30 am – 5:00 am. Prayer, meditation, journaling and an 8oz cup of hot water with my anti-inflammatory mix and then I go for a 3.5 mile hike/trail run. Being out in the Santa Monica Mountains starts out the day just right. Then the emails, texts, calls etc. start… A well organized daily routine has helped me with reliability and consistency. It has also helped me improve my mindset, time management and maintain a healthy work-life balance. Last month, I read the book Atomic Habits written by James Clear which gave me insight in tweaking my daily routine by small increments which can lead to massive change.
Constructive Communication has been impactful in my personal and professional growth. It has helped me build and improve relationships, resolve conflicts and achieve positive outcomes. Listening, problem solving and finding solutions with respect helps achieve mutual understanding and aims to enhance the relationship.
Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
There are so many! Well, I would not be here if it weren’t for my parents bringing me from India to the USA, the land of opportunity. I was born in India. My parents immigrated to the USA with me and my older sister in 1974. My parents built from nothing to a successful, comfortable life. I have seen them work all types of jobs and have provided in all aspects. They play a vital role in my life. Their love, support, and guidance during formative years have laid a foundation for my character, decision-making, resiliency, self-esteem and overall well-being. Also, as I reflect, I was exposed to real estate when I was young as I saw my parents buy, sell and invest as they built up their income.
