We recently connected with Brinny Ortiz and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Brinny, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.
My optimism comes from coming to terms that I shouldn’t expect “myself” from people. I choose to believe that everything happens for a reason and there will be a light at the end of the tunnel. Take my life as an example: I arrived to the USA as a 20 year old woman who moved to New York City with $500 in her pocket. I am now happily married, with two kids and two small businesses. The road to get where I am at was long and full of obstacles but it’s because of my perseverance and optimism that I can now say I am proud of myself.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am an Independent advisor of Mousekeplanner, an authorized Disney Vacation Planner and “Earmarked” agency. What is most special about it is that I get to share my love for travel with my clients. Everyone should have the opportunity to travel the world and create memorable experiences. Planning a trip right now is seriously no joke. Things are constantly changing and it feels like a lot. When it comes to Disney, which I focus on, there’s dining, virtual queues, mobile ordering… There’s so much to keep track of. No one wants their vacation to feel like work. With my FREE services all your magical dreams can come true. I do all the work, you have all the fun.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Perseverance is a skill that will help you stay motivated and keep working hard. Perseverance helps you make progress even when things get tough. It means the willpower to work hard regardless of any obstacles, to be firm on achieving, and remaining consistent. Sometimes we are unable to complete a task or get what we want when things don’t go our way. However, by persevering, we can be successful. Another skill is honesty. Honesty, speaking and acting truthfully, is more than not lying, deceiving, stealing, or cheating. It entails showing respect towards others and having integrity and self-awareness. Which brings me to integrity. Living with integrity to me means that we hold our values so dear that we can’t help but live them out in our everyday interactions. We act with integrity, even when it puts us at risk or makes our current situation more difficult. Integrity is putting our values into action.
How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?
I started my travel planner journey about a year ago and it hasn’t been easy. The challenge I’m currently facing is finding new clients and making them realize I’m the best person to help them plan the dream vacation they have in mind. There are so many travel agents out there nowadays. I believe that slowly but surely, I’ll get more clients by word of mouth and therefore, grow my business. I want to be a full time travel planner. It’s what I love to do and it will be a personal accomplishment when I reach that goal.
