Meet Britain Simons

We were lucky to catch up with Britain Simons recently and have shared our conversation below.

Britain, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

I love this question, and I hope it can help bring hope to anyone- that confidence and a healthy self-esteem are skills worth developing. Don’t ever give up on yourself. Confidence is a mixed bag. Anyone honest would have to give well deserved credit to wonderful parents or a solid mentor. I thankfully had both. But, it’s also something you can foster and grow for yourself. I was dealt a good hand, but I also worked hard to grow into the person I am today.

My parents always encouraged me to develop my skills and talents growing up, with positive reinforcement, organizing opportunities, and supporting decisions that excited me. The key component is- They affirmed my aspirations were valid, achievable and I could succeed. I was told I was good enough, smart enough and able to reach for goals. You can’t underestimate the value of encouragement. But, maybe even more important, they kept my spirit going when I failed, was let down, or hurt. I felt loved, and as a consequence, I worked harder to not let those I love down. I can’t stress enough how important it is to have a core group of family or friends around you.

If you don’t feel supported, then step out into the world and find your tribe. People say that, but seriously, go find community groups with your interests: climbing, running, knitting, film, music, tech, gaming, whatever it is! Make your family. We are social creatures so stop trying to do everything alone. Invite people in, whom believe you’re worth more, and can do more, than you may somethings feel worthy of accomplishing. And, putting yourself out there builds confidence!

That being said, I developed my confidence by learning to never let any setback define my story. Failure is never where “it ends.” It’s that simple. I don’t slow down when it gets hard. Every successful person has failed worse, harder and more often than anyone playing it safe and comfortable. When something is intimidating and scary, I lean in. People stop too soon, they get stuck in the anxiety and “what ifs.” They wait for someone, something to pull them out of the situation. It never comes. Building resilience, by just taking one action after another, builds confidence.

So, if no one’s ever said the words to you, I will, “You’re perspective, potential and talents are unique to you and so valuable. Nobody else has the unique combination you have. The world needs it, it needs YOU. And, in the future, people will love you for it. Affecting just one other person is enough. When you enrich their lives, they will give you the adoration, respect, an encouragement to keep going. When you keep moving forward, you plow through failure, and build self-confidence. You start building accomplishments. I promise, if you dedicate time, push through difficulty, acquire new skills, and hold on long enough… You’ll get to enjoy the little wins along the way, and your confidence/ belief in yourself will develop by default.”

Make achievable goals and don’t stop for anyone until they’re done. Small and achievable. Let yourself be optimistic, over realistic. Prioritize your mental and physical health. Fill your cup before you fill others. Even if it’s not exactly what you expected, keep climbing higher, and learn to enjoy the view along the way. Don’t wait for permission to do the work.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Today, I have multiple irons in the fire and I love every second of it!

I’m an actor, content creator and community leader in the natural healing space. Whatever I’m doing, you can bet its a vehicle to enrich, entertain and make some sort of positive dent in people’s lives.

You can watch loads of free content on my social media, breaking down the science of natural remedies. Where I help people understand the link between modern studies and powerful traditional practices. I also coach small businesses and individuals on Social Media growth, act in film projects- that resonate with me, and collaborate on fun collaborations. My roots are in storytelling, especially film, television and theater, but life takes you in unanticipated directions. I’m also in the process of creating online courses and writing a book!

Everyday I work to balance the creative, my family, the business and stay aligned with my purpose. In that respect, I’m a rich man.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

These are the three most impactful qualities and skills that come to mind: relentless optimism, resilience to failure, and not waiting for permission to create and cultivate your skillset. Nothing else has been more impactful in my journey.

The most essential quality, to focus on is… being Relentlessly Optimistic. This is a skill, not a personality attribute. I learned this lesson at University, when I went though a really dark rough patch. I spent a year putting my negative thoughts and habits in check. It took every ounce of energy I had to let go of heartbreak, bitterness, and feeling under-appreciated. Instead of being realistic, a victim of my circumstances, I focused on bring optimistic. Instead of posting angry, fear, or anxiety rooted posts on social media, I kept it light and positive. Instead of giving energy to many things, completely out of my control, I started being hopeful and acting on it. I shared my little wins, good experiences, friends and my interests on social media. Something I could control. It changed everything and set me on the right path.

When you fail, “relentless optimism” pulls you out of the rut to keep going. As long as you’re moving forward, opportunities will come. Realism kills aspirations and makes you vulnerable to being washed away in the tide of external circumstances. When you give your power away too much, you forget how to create and cultivate the environment you need to flourish. The garden that grows is the one you water, and it’s unique to you. Nobody has any control over how you wire and rewire you brain, but you. Whoever hurt you, it’s still your responsibility to fix it. If you anticipate negative outcomes, you chose that- by giving power to rotten thought patterns. Stop the cycle. Nobody can meet your needs or feed your soul more than you, but it takes work and accountability. You’re responsible. Give into the discovery process, don’t beat yourself up too much, and believe in the best outcome.

There’s no excuses. Start today. If you have money, invest in experiences and opportunities that support your mental health and ideal life path. Hire a coach. Buy an online educational course. Whatever you need. If you don’t have money, then you most likely have time. Time is more valuable than money. Stop wasting it away doom scrolling. Use your time to police your negative habits. Build better ones. Make changes. Meet people. Watch free content aligned with your goals and take meaningful steps forward.

Being relentlessly optimistic means you reject the negative signals other people and circumstances give you. Instead, you cultivate an almost delusional belief in the best possible outcome. That means it only exists as a potential, created in your mind, with no external “proof” in reality. When you put all your energy, passion and actions toward that vision of your future, you start to see opportunities, meet the right people, and achieve the little successes that build toward that goal. While others are stressing, complaining, and falling victim to the chaotic randomness, you are actively creating and cultivating your reality around your ideal life.

Today, I’m happily married to my wife Kristy, scaling a personal brand, creating art I’m proud of and helping others. That’s my vision of success. Now, I’m excited to see yours!

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Yes! I’m busier than ever, but alway open to new partners, productions and ventures.

At this point in my career I love being challenged. I love entertaining, creating and enriching lives. I enjoy the surprise of unexpected opportunities and meeting new people.

I’m still a sucker for entertainment. If you’re a fellow social creator, casting director or in the TV and Film world, feel free to reach out to me or my reps. I love being on set. I’m a classically trained actor, active content creator (UGC/ personal brand) and I’ll always love the craft.

If you’re just interested in getting healthier, then follow me on social media and snag some free goodies on my website. It’s fun educational content. That should be everyone, but no judgement! Most of what I do is free for everyone to enjoy. Stay tuned for in depth resources, courses and more!

If you want to develop a personal brand, grow your social media or want to improve your online presence, then reach out! I’m currently filming a comprehensive course guide and offering mentorship coaching. Sign up to my newsletter or fill out the contact form to get going.

Lastly, if your product or service aligns with my personal health brand, and really improves lives, then let’s talk. I want to spread the word on amazing new trends and innovations! Let’s discuss your needs: community building, a spokesman, social media content, or a strategy to reach your brand awareness goals.

Cheers!
