Meet Britani Daley

We recently connected with Britani Daley and have shared our conversation below.

Britani, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

Honestly, it started way back in middle school with makeup and a little bit of ‘fake it ‘til you make it.’ I’d watch what other people were doing with clothes and style and try to mirror it. But being in a bigger body, I quickly realized that most of the styles in stores just weren’t made with me in mind. That pushed me to really figure out my own personal style. I got into thrifting, makeup, DIY projects, altering clothes – basically finding ways to make things work for me. That resourcefulness not only gave me new skills, it also let my creativity flow, which was a huge confidence booster.
As I got older, I started learning more about the history of fatphobia and how deeply it’s tied to racism, sexism and capitalism. Once I understood how those systems were built to keep people small, in every sense of the word, it lit a fire in me. Loving myself stopped being just a personal thing; it became an act of rebellion against everything I don’t believe in.
And over time, I worked on getting out of my head and into my body, connecting with my soul, with nature and learning to genuinely appreciate my beauty and worthiness. It wasn’t just knowing I’m valuable, it was feeling it and integrating it into how I live every day.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m the owner of Studio Citrine, where I specialize in full body waxing, facial threading, brow shaping, laminations, tinting and lash lifts. On the surface, it might seem like I’m just shaping brows or removing hair, but for me, it’s really about helping people feel confident and love themselves the way I’ve learned to love myself.
Studio Citrine is all about inclusivity and self-love, it’s a space where every body is welcome, where you can relax, laugh and even have a little heart-to-heart while you’re getting your service. Over time, those small conversations during appointments can make a big difference in how someone sees themselves.
The newest update is that I’m now the sole owner of the business! My sister, Brianna, who used to do facials here, has officially left society to go be a fairy in the woods, which honestly suits her perfectly. So now, I’m putting all my energy into continuing to grow Studio Citrine into a place that feels like home for my clients and a little beacon of self-love in our community.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

If I had to pick three things that have really shaped my journey, the first would be a thirst for growth. I’ve always had this deep desire to feel good in my life; to be happy, content and constantly learning. I’m kind of a forever student, always staying curious and asking myself questions.
The second is love. Love for myself, love for other people and really trying to lead with my heart in everything I do. When you start from a place of love, it changes the way you show up for yourself and for the world around you.
And the third is balance and presence. Knowing when to work and when to rest, how to balance personal time with social time and really listening to my body. I believe in living a pleasurable life – being silly, being goofy and not postponing joy for ‘someday.’
For anyone starting their own journey, I’d say: stay curious, lead with love and give yourself permission to live in the moment. You don’t have to have it all figured out, just be willing to learn, care deeply and make space for joy along the way.

Do you think it’s better to go all in on our strengths or to try to be more well-rounded by investing effort on improving areas you aren’t as strong in?

Honestly, I don’t think it’s an either/or. You can lean into your strengths all you want and you should, because that’s where you shine, but at some point, life is going to hold up a mirror and make you face your weaknesses. There’s just no scenario where you only ever deal with the things you’re great at.
For me, it’s about being open-minded and curious with yourself. Instead of avoiding the harder parts, I try to look at them like, ‘Okay, what is this here to teach me?’ Because if you don’t, you end up stuck in the same loop, facing the same challenges over and over.
So it’s not really a choice, your growth will eventually call you to look at your shadows. The question is just whether you want to meet it willingly or have it sneak up on you when you least expect it.
