Meet Britt Elizabeth

We were lucky to catch up with Britt Elizabeth recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Britt, so excited to talk about all sorts of important topics with you today. The first one we want to jump into is about being the only one in the room – for some that’s being the only person of color or the only non-native English speaker or the only non-MBA, etc Can you talk to us about how you have managed to be successful even when you were the only one in the room that looked like you?
Haha! This IS my super power. I’ve always been “by myself”. And I think THAT is one of the main reasons that I am successful. My life has been very different than what most think. The school of hard knocks don’t play and you either get in and go right or get left. And I’m walking my full purpose out for my Creator, myself, and my children. I never made a decision really, I just always felt a calling to be every ounce of who I was created to be. And every time that something hits happens or I’m knocked down or something seems impossible, it’s just a knot in the rope that reminds me that the opposition will never stop because it wants me to stop and I’ll never give them the satisfaction.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
As a dedicated photographer with a heart that feels in ways that I am now told only 3% of the world feels and eyes that truly see through the spirit of who someone is. My photography is a business and I am so thankful to have a means that allows me to create a beautiful life while capturing yours. You see, I think I can do what I do because of my story. I have felt the worse sadness and yet cried the happiest tear. I have had nothing and built what I have dreamed about, just me and Jesus. I have The grind to get to the next dream while past trauma heals. I have The hustle to keep my window open for new ideas, new stories, and new hopes that begin to be written. I have learned that is what life is. It’s those details that are woven in and out of our lives that write the different stories that make us who and what we are. It is storytelling that I specialize in. Why? Because that’s real. The stories matters. The stories are worth being told. You matter! Your story matters! There is nothing like capturing the mystery, the uniqueness, the grit, the lovliness of a human being that crosses various genres. My storytelling sessions are whatever human emotion, moments, reflection that we live out though our lives. Whether its a senior, your families, your personal branding, your pregnancy, your love story or a different types of lifestyle, my passion lies in combining artistic vision with technical expertise to deliver exceptional results to tell your story.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Drive Perseverance
Resilience
Forgiveness
Hustle
Grit
You gotta have the drive to get up so find what makes you get up.
You HAVE to preserve and learn to do when there no one but yourself.
You Must teach yourself, it ain’t personal, it’s business. Resilience will be your friend.
You have to forgive yourself and everything else or it stagnants you.
You have to grind 25/8… no one is going to work as hard as you do for your business.
You have to muster up everything you got to find that grit, that nasty part that keeps you READY!

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
My parents… The most impactful thing that my mama did for me was teach me how to fight for what you want in every area of your life. I almost quit photography but my mama said, I DID NOT RAISE YOU TO BE A QUITTER.

The most impactful thing that my father did was choose my step mother and that life instead of me. I know that sounds horrible but he taught me that life doesn’t go like you think it should. He taught to always be ready for rejection and from that I learned how to handle rejection and being told no and even how to counter or combat it.
