Meet Brittani Ables

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brittani Ables. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Brittani, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I found my purpose by getting aligned with God and finding my identity in Christ. I realized that I needed to work towards becoming a better person each and everyday. I started to follow the laws, statutes, and commandments of God and realized how lawless I was living. The use of discipline and wisdom has prospered me greatly. I had to take some time to analyze myself and see what I needed to improve on and remove from my life. It was important to become the best version of myself by holding myself accountable and taking the steps needed to elevate in all aspects of my life. When you find your purpose you will feel it and if you seek God in everything you do, you will have a strong foundation and everything you do will prosper.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a nursing student at Johns Hopkins University pursuing my Master’s degree. I am also a business owner of a hair extension company. My brand is called the Double Platinum Collection. I sale and dye Raw Indian Hair extensions. I am from Inglewood, CA and I moved to Baltimore for my nursing career. I love to dye my hair different colors which is why my slogan is “You buy it, we dye it”. I give my customers the option to customize their hair extension color on my website www.doubleplatinumcollection.com. I have three different textures of hair: Straight, wavy, curly. I also natural brown/black and grey hair. My hair is ethnically sourced from South India. It is one of the purest and top quality hair that you can get your hands on. With proper care, my hair extensions may last up to 5 years. I love to do photoshoots and videography to represent my brand. I started my hair business because I knew that I always wanted to sale hair and become a business owner. It was not about the money, but being able to provide the best hair on the market. It took a lot of researching and networking. This is my passion and I know that with hard work and dedication it will be a very successful business.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Being an ambitious person who does not give up has allowed me to continue to learn and pick up skills that would help me in the long run. The qualities I possess is being ambitious, a leader, and generous. The best advice I can give is to stay in your own lane and don’t compare your journey to others. Be confident in everything you do. Keep good company around you and make sure you purge all negativity out of your life. Most importantly, be obedient and have discipline to pursue the things that you want to do.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
Learning how to enjoy your own company and energy has been my biggest area of improvement. Also, being disciplined with my time, who allow in my space, and protecting my peace. I have been able to do this because I was forced to move to the East Coast to pursue my dreams. Learning how to embrace and enjoy my solitude was a challenge because I moved by myself. It was uncomfortable. I will say that the only way you will grow is if you are uncomfortable. God forced me to move outside of my comfort zone which led me to solely depend on him and mold me into the person that I am destined to be. I am learning to be more confident and combating the fear I have when it comes to putting out more content or chasing my dreams.
