We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brittany Ford. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brittany below.
Brittany, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
I developed my confidence and self-esteem by consistently pushing myself outside of my comfort zone. Embracing discomfort allowed me to grow, face challenges head-on, and build resilience. Each time I stepped into the unknown, I gained more confidence in my abilities, which ultimately empowered me to handle anything that came my way in business.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m a wedding and portrait photographer specializing in capturing vibrant and meaningful moments. My work revolves around telling the unique love stories of couples through beautiful imagery that reflects their personalities and emotions. I feel incredibly lucky to be part of such significant moments in people’s lives—there’s something truly special about documenting the joy, love, and connections that unfold on a wedding day.
What excites me most about my work is the opportunity to create lasting memories for my clients. I thrive on the challenge of capturing authentic emotions and moments, from the intimate exchanges to the grand celebrations. Each wedding is a new adventure, and I love being able to weave those stories together through my lens.
In addition to photography, I also run Studio Lavonne & Community, a creative space designed for collaboration, workshops, and content creation. It’s named in honor of my grandmother, reflecting my belief in the power of community and creativity. I’m passionate about fostering a supportive environment for local creatives, and it’s been rewarding to watch this community grow since its inception in 2022.
I’m excited to announce that we have some upcoming workshops and events planned at Studio Lavonne & Community that will focus on various aspects of photography and business development. These sessions will provide valuable insights for photographers and creatives looking to enhance their skills and network with like-minded individuals. Stay tuned for more details, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three qualities that were most impactful in my journey are resilience, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous learning.
Resilience: The ability to bounce back from setbacks has been crucial. There were times when things didn’t go as planned, whether it was a challenging client experience or a slow season. Building resilience allowed me to learn from these situations and keep moving forward.
Adaptability: The creative industry is constantly evolving, and being open to change has helped me stay relevant and innovative. Whether it’s adjusting to new trends or refining my processes, adaptability has enabled me to thrive.
Commitment to Continuous Learning: Never stop learning! From technical skills to business strategies, I’ve found that investing in my education has been vital to my growth.
My advice to also experience these:
Embrace challenges as opportunities for growth. When things don’t go your way, take a moment to reflect on what you can learn from the experience.
Stay curious and be willing to explore new techniques and ideas. Don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone and try different approaches to your work.
And finally seek out workshops, online courses, or mentorship opportunities. Surround yourself with other creatives and actively engage in communities where you can share knowledge and learn from one another.
For anyone starting their journey, I encourage you to embrace these qualities. They will not only enhance your skills but also build a strong foundation for a fulfilling and successful career.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed, I prioritize self-care. I find that long walks, reading, and listening to music help me clear my mind and recharge. Taking long drives is another favorite way to escape and find some peace, especially for a really good sunset view. And one of the most important strategies? Making sure to take that vacation!!! It’s essential to step away, reset, and come back with a fresh perspective. Giving yourself permission to unwind is crucial for maintaining balance and creativity.
