Meet Brittany Loy

We were lucky to catch up with Brittany Loy recently and have shared our conversation below.

Brittany , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

Resilience is a pretty interesting thing. I think a big part of where I get my resilience from is my friends who are all in business for themselves. Seeing how they navigate the ups and downs of entrepreneurship has been a real source of inspiration for me. They’ve shown me that no matter what challenges come your way, you can find a way to push through and come out stronger.

But it’s not just about my friends; it’s also about my parents who are very hard workers. They’ve been a consistent example of determination and perseverance, regardless of the circumstances. Their unwavering work ethic has been a significant influence on my resilience.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Hello, I’m Brittany, and I recently moved to LA! What I do is deeply rooted in a vision born out of a desire for positive change. For a long time, it felt like the news was filled with stories of black men, women, and children facing violence and injustice, and it seemed like conversations and meetings weren’t making the impact we needed. That’s why I founded Unity Imperial with my business partner.

Unity Imperial is more than just a brand; it’s a movement. Our logo, featuring a powerful fist holding onto our African roots at the center of UNITY, symbolizes our strength and unity as a community. We’re here to create a tight-knit bond among our people, to promote togetherness within our community, and to show the world the power of black dollars.

What’s most exciting and special about Unity Imperial is that we’re not just talking about unity; we’re actively practicing it every day. Our mission is clear: to connect people, uplift our community, and demonstrate the significance of black dollars. We believe that by coming together around common interests, we can bring about real change in our world.

One of our key mottos is “Black Dollars Matter,” and we’re passionate about getting people engaged in conversations about what truly matters and how they can contribute. Unity Imperial is more than just a brand; it’s a family, and we welcome everyone who shares our vision of unity and community support.

And speaking of unity, I co-founded this company with my best friend turned business partner, Justine Sanders. Together, we’re determined to make a positive impact and promote unity “by any means necessary.” The future starts with us, and we’re excited to have you join us on this journey of empowerment and togetherness. Welcome to Unity Imperial!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back at my journey, there are three things that really stood out:

First, is resilience. You know, there are always going to be challenges and setbacks, especially in tech and entrepreneurship. But the key is to see those moments as opportunities to learn and grow. Surround yourself with a support system, people who have your back when things get tough. It’s about bouncing back stronger.

Second, networking and building relationships. This has been huge for me. Whether it’s in your career or personal life, connecting with people is essential. Attend events, seek mentorship, and be genuinely interested in others. It’s those connections that can open up unexpected opportunities.

And finally, continuous learning. Tech and. entrepreneurship is always evolving, and you’ve got to keep up. Stay curious, be proactive about learning, and don’t hesitate to explore new areas. The ability to adapt and learn is your secret weapon.

So, if you’re just starting your journey, remember these three things: resilience, building meaningful connections, and staying committed to learning. They’re like the foundation for personal and professional growth, and they’ve made a big difference in my own journey.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me was their unwavering support and encouragement. From a young age, I witnessed their hard work and dedication in everything they did. They instilled in me the importance of determination, resilience, and never giving up on my dreams. Their constant cheering me on, whether it was in academics, pursuing my career, or even personal endeavors, has been a driving force in my life. Their belief in me and their willingness to support me in any and everything I do has made a profound impact on my journey and helped shape who I am today.
