Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brittany Myers. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Brittany, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
Through my personal journey as a Christian, I discovered my purpose as a life coach. It all began when I got saved in 2018, my relationship with Christ became the foundation of my nonprofit and all the work I do. Growing up in an urban environment, I witnessed the lack of resources, education, and positive guidance in my community. This understanding fueled my desire to make a difference and support others in their own journey of self-discovery. As a Christian life coach, I am dedicated to helping individuals find their purpose, overcome challenges, and thrive in all aspects of their lives.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Growing up in Savannah GA, I witnessed the struggles faced by under-served individuals battling mental illnesses, identity crisis & drug addictions in her community. My love for Jesus and strong sense of community propelled me to take action. I wanted to combine my passion for fashion, my deep faith, and my desire to make a positive impact on those in need. At Fashionably Speaking, we aim to provide a supportive and inclusive environment where participants can develop their skills, cultivate their faith, and make a positive impact on the lives of others. Through our sewing and designing initiatives, we strive to inspire hope, enhance self-confidence, and create opportunities for personal and professional growth. Together, we aim to stitch together a brighter future for all.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back on my journey, I believe there were three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful:
1. Passion and Purpose: Having a strong passion for what you do and a clear sense of purpose can drive you to overcome challenges and stay focused on your goals. It fuels your motivation and commitment, especially during times of difficulty. My advice is to continuously remind yourself of why you started and stay connected to your passion and purpose. Surround yourself with like-minded individuals who share your vision and values, as their support and encouragement can be invaluable.
2. Continuous Learning and Growth: The journey of a Christian life coach and fashion designer, especially when starting a nonprofit, requires constant learning and growth. Stay open to new ideas, seek out mentorship and professional development opportunities, and be willing to adapt and evolve. Embrace a growth mindset and view challenges as opportunities for learning and improvement. Invest in yourself by attending workshops, conferences, and training programs that can enhance your skills and knowledge in your respective fields.
3. Resilience and Perseverance: Building a nonprofit and working with underserved communities can be challenging and demanding. It’s important to develop resilience and persevere through setbacks and obstacles. Cultivate a positive mindset, practice self-care, and seek support when needed. Surround yourself with a network of mentors, friends, and colleagues who can provide guidance, encouragement, and accountability. Remember, success is often the result of persistence and resilience.
My advice for individuals who are early in their journey is to embrace a growth mindset and be open to learning and personal development. Seek out opportunities to expand your knowledge and skills, whether through formal education or hands-on experience. Network with professionals in your industry and learn from their experiences. Don’t be afraid to take risks and step outside of your comfort zone. And most importantly, stay true to your passion and purpose, as they will guide you through the ups and downs of your journey.
As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
The Bible: Which should be every believers, blueprint and way of life.
