Meet Brittany Sanders

We recently connected with Brittany Sanders and have shared our conversation below.

Brittany, thank you so much for agreeing to talk with us about a deeply personal and sensitive topic. Postpartum depression affects so many in the community and hearing from someone who has overcome PPD might help someone who is going through it right now. For readers, please note this is not medical advice, we are not doctors, you should always consult professionals for advice and that this is merely one person sharing their story and experience

Postpartum Depression hit me very quickly after the births of my children. I just eventually became tired of how I felt mentally, and I knew I had the perfect tool to use art and creativity as a form of therapy, and that tool was my camera.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Hi! I’m Brittany, a wedding & portrait photographer based in Virginia Beach, Va. I’ve always had a passion for photography, and I opened my business a little over 2 years ago. I specialize in digital photography, but I offer film photography as well. I will be launching a brand new website in December, as well as raising my prices a tiny bit, but anyone who books before the new year will have my 2024 pricing!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

You have to believe in yourself. For a long time, photography was just a dream of mine. I thought I had a hobby, and I turned it into a career just by believing I can do it and manifesting that.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

So many people have given me great advice and steered me in the right direction, but out of everyone my partner Tristan has pushed me to be the best version of myself, and always reminds me to believe in my dreams, no matter how far away they seem. He is my biggest supporter and #1 fan, and I couldn’t be where I am today without him by my side.
