Meet Brittney Autry Cole

We were lucky to catch up with Brittney Autry Cole recently and have shared our conversation below.

Brittney , thank you so much for joining us and offering your lessons and wisdom for our readers. One of the things we most admire about you is your generosity and so we’d love if you could talk to us about where you think your generosity comes from.
My generosity is derived from all of the sacrifices that my family members have made on my behalf. My grandparents, parents, and other family members have supported my dreams without reservation. It is because of this series of choices that I watched them make that I have developed such a strong commitment to helping others reach the highest version of themselves.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I own a mental wellness social enterprise called Cent(HER)ed Collective. We support the healing and wellness of Black women and girls through therapy, retreats and youth programming in schools. We have recently partnered with two schools and will be adding more schools in the fall. Additionally, we will be partnering with a local non profit called Educating Our Community to launch our first annual Activate(her) Field Day! We will invite 150-200 Black women and girls too heal through play for a day and we’re so excited about this event!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The most impactful qualities that have been necessary on my journey are patience, perseverance and a clear vision for what I wanted. There have been many times where I struggled with one or two of these qualities, but the vision helped me remain steadfast and kept me moving in the right direction. I would advise folks who are early in their journey to get clear on what they want for themselves and where they want to go in the future. They should write it down, revise it, come back to it and allow it to really resonate with them. It will be their north star when things get challenging!

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
We are always looking for partners who are aligned with our vision and want to collaborate! We are looking for wellness practitioners, businesses that want to provide retreats for their staff and school partners who want to support their girls’ mental wellness development. We would love to work closely with these individuals and organizations to support them in making wellness more accessible for Black girls and women!
