We were lucky to catch up with Brittniee Simmone recently and have shared our conversation below.
Brittniee, thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with us today. We’re excited to dive into your story and your work, but first let’s start with a broader topic that might be stopping many of our readers from pursuing their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. How have you managed to persist despite haters and nay-sayers that inevitably follow folks who are doing something unique, special or off the beaten path?
For me, I don’t care what people think of me. My daddy always told me to be me no matter what people think. I create the life and image that makes me happy. I Don’t care how people feel about me is none of my business fr fr.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Brittniee Simmone is a brand. Everything I do, I do it with passion and determination. Right now I’m focused on my book, Donovan the Iceboarding Penguin and my music. Donovan was inspired by my youngest nephew. He is cute and independent When he was small he loved doing his own thing and it was always creative. He picked up sports and excelled quickly so I made Donovan. As for my music, i love to sing!!! I’m always looking for more inspiration for my craft. I’m focusing on mixing genres, old school, new school, country and even gospel. So, I guess you can say I’m really busy. Lol
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Well for one, I don’t take no for an answer. There was always a yes somewhere . So I did everything I could and asked those who could assist me.
2. I love to learn. This world is filled with so much knowledge and so much to learn and I’m greedy . When it’s a topic I love, I eat it up and get my full.
3. I’m patient. I don’t mind waiting. I’ve learned that how I wait is also important. So I prepare, strategize, learn and when it’s my time, I’m ready. Being patient and intentional has helped me grow.
These qualities patience, studying and being resilient have been life changers. They’ve instilled a drive and hunger to go get it… by any means necessary. The WHY that I’ve created is big enough and possible when those three things are in place.
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
My daddy was the biggest influence. He would always push me to follow my dreams. We would sit and watch Money Line, Jeopardy , work on cars and he taught me about boys. That last one was the most important. He was always on my case about keeping my head in books and.not on boys. He would always ask me questions to challenge me to think and be myself. Even though I didn’t live with him, every time I saw him he made an impact. I love stuffed animals because he’d bring me one I’d see him. That’s part of the reason why I write children’s books. I want to inspire kids to dream and share the love he gave me.
