Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brittny Burford. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Brittny, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
My work ethic is deeply rooted in a blend of passion, purpose, and people. Growing up, I watched my family pour their hearts into everything they did, whether it was in business or everyday life. That set the tone for me early on—showing up fully, following through, and doing things with integrity. As a mom and a realtor, I’ve learned that consistency and commitment aren’t optional—they’re how trust is built. Real estate isn’t just about homes; it’s about people, lifestyle, and creating long-term happiness. I stay driven because I genuinely care about helping others, and I want my daughter to see that with the right mindset, strong values, and a whole lot of heart, anything is possible.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m a South Bay-based realtor with a deep love for lifestyle, community, and connection. Real estate, for me, goes way beyond just buying and selling homes—it’s about helping people find their place and finding home. I work with families, first-time buyers, investors, and longtime locals, guiding them through one of the most personal and life-changing decisions they’ll make. What makes my approach special is that I’m not just selling a house—I’m sharing a vision of what life could look like in this next chapter.
What excites me most is being a connector. I love pairing people with not just the right home, but the right neighborhood, school, beach, gym, or even coffee shop. I also love sharing my knowledge of the area through creative storytelling—whether that’s on Instagram or in person—because I believe people want more than data; they want to feel and be a part of something special.
Right now, I’m focused on growing my brand, Burford Beach Homes, with an emphasis on service and lifestyle. I want people to feel taken care of, supported, and inspired. Whether I’m negotiating a deal, hosting an open house, or cheering on my daughter’s volleyball team, my goal is always to show up as myself—warm, grounded, and fully in it.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Relationship-building has been the heart of my success. This business is built on trust, and that doesn’t happen overnight. The more I focused on truly showing up for people—not just as clients, but as people within our community—the more everything grew. My advice here…Be genuine. Be generous. Invest in your people and your community.
Resilience has carried me through the inevitable highs and lows of both life and real estate. Deals fall through, markets shift, personal challenges come up—but learning to stay grounded and keep going, especially as a mom and a business owner, has made all the difference. For anyone starting out, I’d say: don’t fear the setbacks. Let them refine you, not define you.
And lastly, curiosity has kept me evolving. I’m always learning—about marketing, negotiation, the local community, and even myself. Staying curious helps you stay relevant and connected. If you’re just starting out, lean into that learning mode. Ask questions, take notes, try things, and don’t be afraid to make mistakes.
As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
Dale Carnegie’s “How to Win Friends and Influence People” has been the #1 book for being the guiding handbook of my professional career and building my real estate business. This book was written nearly 100 years ago but the values and principles that it discusses are timeless and true. Be a good listener, make the other person feel important, give honest & sincere appreciation, focus on your customer’s needs and wants, be genuinely interested in others and SMILE!
