We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Brook Kraushaar. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Brook below.
Hi Brook , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
Something clicked in my late teens, early 20s. I enjoyed manual labor! Roofing of all things really became a passion. Then it slowly became who I was and I later enjoyed just being able to work in the heat. So if you can handle a 130 degree roof, 60ft off the ground with a harness and all your ppe. You can pretty much handle anything. Since then, I don’t do many roofs. It’s mainly all running my PB & J food truck (That’s my Jam, a sandwich co.), production and painting these days.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Hi, I’m Brook — founder of That’s My Jam (a sandwich co.), filmmaker, drummer, and proud small business owner.
We officially debuted our PB&J food truck on July 4th, and it’s been an incredible ride so far. What started as a passion project between my fiancée and I — born from late-night cravings, nostalgia, and a desire to bring something fun and different to our hometown — has turned into a full-blown flavor movement.
At its core, That’s My Jam is about taking something simple and making it unforgettable. We handcraft gourmet peanut butter and jelly sandwiches using small-batch jams, our signature peanut butter, and unique ingredient twists you won’t find anywhere else. We’re talking Strawberry Sriracha, Maple Bacon Banana, Dark Chocolate PB + Grape on Marble Rye… we’re not playing it safe, and that’s what makes it exciting.
As a creative and filmmaker, I’ve always been drawn to storytelling — and now I get to tell stories through food. Whether it’s a nostalgic combo that reminds you of home or a wild new flavor you didn’t know you needed, our goal is to make every sandwich or smoothie an experience worth remembering.
What I’m most excited about right now is how the community is showing up. From kids dancing in line for their PB&J smoothies to seniors telling us our “Classic” tastes just like their childhood, it’s been amazing to watch this brand become something people connect with.
We’ve got some big things coming up — including new seasonal flavors, collaborations with local artists and musicians, and more events throughout the Midwest. You’ll catch us popping up at festivals, night markets, and anywhere people want something that tastes handmade and hits the heart.
If you see the truck, come say hi. We’re not just serving food — we’re building a vibe, a community, and something that (we hope) sticks with you long after the last bite.
That’s My Jam.
Brook
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Being sober allowed me to be motivated, dedicated, and focus on what matters. Being a good father is what matters most.
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
Sort your projects out. Start with either the smallest project to know out first, or when you start your day fresh. Knock out that task or project that is going to take up a good chunk of your day. I find that if i get my mind ready for that big task the next day. Im more ready to achieve the end result by just getting your mind set for it.

Smaller group photo is from the movie trailer shoot “HOLLER”. The bigger group photo is from the premiere of “For the Record” a tv show pilot episode I co-created, directed, filmed, edited, and acted in.
