Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brooke Hague. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Brooke, so great to have you with us today. There are so many topics we want to ask you about, but perhaps the one we can start with is burnout. How have you overcome or avoided burnout?
As a life coach and artist, I’ve found that maintaining balance and prioritizing self-care are crucial in avoiding burnout. I actively promote the importance of mental well-being to my clients, and I apply those same principles to my own life.
First, I set clear boundaries between my work and personal life. I schedule specific times for coaching sessions and dedicate blocks of time for my photography and art, ensuring that I’m not constantly in ‘work mode.’ This allows me to disconnect and recharge.
Additionally, I practice regular self-reflection and mindfulness. This helps me stay grounded and aware of my emotional and physical state. When I notice signs of fatigue or overwhelm, I make it a priority to take breaks, whether it’s a short walk, meditation, or engaging in a creative project purely for enjoyment without any pressure.
Moreover, I invest time in ongoing education and professional development. Staying inspired helps me bring fresh perspectives to my coaching and artistic work, preventing monotony and keeping my passion alive.
Lastly, I surround myself with a supportive community. I share experiences and insights with fellow coaches and artists, which not only provides mutual encouragement but also fosters a sense of belonging, reminding me that I am not alone in navigating these challenges.
By implementing these practices, I’ve been able to sustain my energy and enthusiasm, allowing me to serve my clients effectively while also nurturing my creativity.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m a passionate and dedicated individual who wears many hats—most importantly, I’m a mom, which shapes much of my life and perspective. Being a parent has not only deepened my capacity for empathy and understanding but has also inspired my work as both an artist and a life coach. Each day, I strive to create a nurturing environment for my teens while encouraging their own creativity and self-expression.
As an artist and photographer with Soulcravt, I find immense joy in capturing the beauty around me and translating that into meaningful visual stories. My art often reflects themes of growth, freedom and connection, inspired by my life experiences with Source and the Universe. I love experimenting with different mediums and techniques, and I love capturing moments of growth and reconnection to one’s self for my clients. With Soulcravt, we are dedicated to create a harmonious community with others to inspire, create and heal.
Simultaneously, as a life coach, I am committed to helping others discover their potential and navigate their personal challenges. I integrate my artistic sensibility into my coaching practice, encouraging clients to explore their inner selves creatively. This holistic approach allows me to connect deeply with my clients, helping them to unlock their creativity and find fulfillment in both their personal and spiritual lives. One of my major focus areas is recovery from mental health and addiction issues. As a person in recovery for 9 years, it is of utmost importance to me to share my lived experience and knowledge to help guide others.
Balancing these roles requires intentionality—I maintain a flexible schedule that allows me to dedicate quality time to my teens (and fur children) while also carving out time for my art and coaching practice. I prioritize self-care and personal growth, ensuring that I remain energized and inspired. This lifestyle keeps me grounded, allows me to model resilience and creativity for my kids, and fuels my passion for helping others.
Overall, I’m deeply committed to living an intentional life that embraces creativity, connection, and community. I believe that every role I fulfill enhances the others, making me a more empathetic mom, a more insightful coach, and a more passionate artist- and that, for me, makes the world a better place.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Throughout my journey to becoming a mental health coach and artist, I have developed three key areas and skills that have profoundly shaped my path.
First, active listening has become an invaluable skill, allowing me to truly understand and empathize with others’ experiences and emotions, fostering deeper connections with my clients. Second, creativity has played a crucial role in my artistic pursuits, enabling me to express complex feelings and ideas, while also helping my clients discover new ways to process their emotions.
Lastly, self-awareness has been a significant area of growth; by reflecting on my own experiences and mental health, I have cultivated resilience and gained insights that I can share with others, empowering them on their own journeys toward healing and growth. Together, these skills have enriched both my coaching and artistic endeavors, reinforcing my commitment to supporting others in their mental health journeys.
The best advice I have for people looking to transform their career and lifestyle is to focus on what matters most. We are allowed to be paid to exist, allowed to turn our hobbies and passions into income and the only person stopping you is YOU.
Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
An ideal client for me is someone who embodies an open-mindedness to change, willing to explore and transform their mindsets to enhance their life circumstances. This individual recognizes the impact of their mental health struggles, as well as the challenges posed by addictions, and is ready to engage in a collaborative journey of self-discovery and recovery. They understand that overcoming these obstacles requires a multifaceted approach, including introspection, resilience, and a willingness to learn new coping strategies. With a desire to embrace positive changes, this client seeks not only to address their mental health issues but also to break free from addictive behaviors, ultimately striving for a more fulfilling, balanced, and empowered life. Together, we can co-collaborate on creating a healthier mindset and building the tools necessary for lasting change.
