Meet Brooke Papp

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Brooke Papp a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Brooke , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
My childhood consisted of a lot of inconsistency, moving often, financial hardship and really low moments brought on by family addiction. These experiences guided me to learn lessons on hard work and dedication. I knew from a young age that if you wanted ‘x’ it was your responsibility to work to get to ‘x’. Whether that was a material item, a healthy relationship or some of the larger things in life that come from solid morals. I started working at 14 years old – I lied about my age, which dates me! – but that first job gave me a small taste of financial independence. I have worked non-stop since then and developed my own business in 2017. I am proud of where I am, albeit the journey has been a lot of uphill battles, but I don’t see myself slowing in business any time soon!

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I started a social marketing business in 2017 and although it was a one woman show until 2020, we hit 6 years on April 17th. We handle tasks from influencer business strategy, ghost writing, email marketing all the way to creative design. I would love to expand of course, but I also would like to look to new opportunities within our current clients. And I want to work on boundaries this year, it’s a constant struggle but I know creating those boundaries will only further our business.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
– I always say I am a ‘yes’ person. Say yes and figure it out later. This can be great for opportunity and growth potential.

– Going back to childhood, real life events were what gave me the drive to get to where I am today. It was a hard road, but I don’t look back with regret or sadness at all. Adversity saved me, truly.

– I love humans. I love to create and cook for friends, and make genuine connections – which I believe has led me to be comfortable starting conversations with clients or potential clients.

How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?
Burnout is very real. And I believe I am right there on the cusp which is a challenge. I love what I do, I love my clients but without ever turning off, it can be a road leading straight to being overwhelmed and being very burnt out. This goes back to me being a ‘yes’ person. It can be a positive and negative. Saying yes to everything gives little time for personal growth.
