We recently connected with Brooklyn Jones and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Brooklyn, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
Finding your purpose entails doing something that makes you want to wake up and do it with a smile even on difficult days. For me, it is capturing people’s meaningful moments. Finding your purpose entails going on adventures, meeting new people, and determining what is and is not meant for you. Finding your purpose is not a simple task, but it is well worth the effort. It takes time and commitment, but with the right people to guide you, you will discover your own mission
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a freelance photographer residing in Atlanta, Georgia. I recently relocated from St. Louis, Missouri to pursue my photography aspirations. Since I’ve been here, I’ve only had more opportunities for my profession. I’ve discovered that chasing faith for the things you want will lead you to where you should be rather than where you want to be. That was moving states for me. Since I originally started in 2021, my photography business has opened an abundance of possibilities. Every day, I wake up with new ideas for how to expand my business; waking up and doing what I love is the only dream I will ever invest in, and I encourage everyone else to do the same.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Making mistakes will be your greatest teacher as an entrepreneur, since I have learned and retained so many skills and information along the way to help my business develop. My current skill sets are the result of my mistakes, not only mine but also those of others. Networking relationships and problem solving are two skills that I can say have helped me along my path. Meeting new people will propel you to the top, and problem solving will always get you out of a jam. My point in all of this is to suggest that if you make mistakes and go out and figure out what works for you as an entrepreneur and expand on it, you will be unstoppable.
Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
Sometimes I get discouraged because I attempt to compare myself to others, but after realizing that being overwhelmed by the strength of my excellence can’t be defeated by anybody except myself, I make sure to keep my head high and remember that nobody is as amazing as myself. Feeling overwhelmed and discouraged is something that everyone experiences, but learning how to overcome it will increase your chances of success. Finding a coping technique for your overburdened thoughts can keep you going regardless of how you feel, so never give up.
