Meet Bruna Frota

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Bruna Frota. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Bruna below.

Hi Bruna, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
My genetics. My parents come from very humble origins. My paternal grandfather was a farmer, and my maternal great-grandfather worked for the city as an electrician. Both of them raised their children with very little, but their work ethic made their lives better than theirs. They never got corrupted, despite several opportunities to go the easier way. They learned that success comes from hard work and ethics, not taking advantage of others.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am well versed in business immigration and have experience in U.S. immigration with large multinational corporations and regional companies in the oil & gas, pharmaceutical, technology, and engineering industries.

My experience encompasses assessing clients’ U.S. migration needs and developing and facilitating short and long-term migration strategies. I also assist high-skilled individuals, executives, and managers in obtaining self-sponsored visas and green cards such as EB-1 Extraordinary Ability, EB-1 Outstanding Professors and Researches, EB-2 Labor Certification, EB-2 National Interest Waiver, and EB-3 Labor Certification and Schedule A.

I worked for leading immigration law firms, such as Berry Appleman & Leiden LLP and De Mott, McChesney, Curtright and Armendáriz LLP, before opening my own practice. I also worked as an Immigration Attorney for a leading relocation company: Santa Fe Relocation. I have a team of paralegals and of counsels delivering outstanding customer service to our clients. I also serve as the General Counsel for the Consulate General of Brazil in Houston and Tramontina USA, Inc.

I have been recognized by the Houstonia Magazine as a Top Lawyer since 2019. In 2023, I won two awards: Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch and SuperLawyers: Rising Stars

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Detail-oriented: for lawyers that work with pleadings, briefs, motions, etc., persuasive writing is a mandatory tool. When writing, lawyers must pay attention to details which lead to perfection. Efficient Customer Service: in the US, people take customer service for granted. Coming from a South American country and knowing customer service is a luxury, I adapted my customer service skills by combining my knowledge of the US and South American cultures to develop my optimal customer service strategy. Clients love the attention I give them, which is paramount to any business’s success.
Openness: being open to new possibilities, different cultures, and new trends allowed me to embrace new business strategies, which led me to grow my business to a different level.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
My husband, now my business partner, has been the most influential person in my career. He was not just my main cheerleader and supporter, but he challenged me to shift gears from being just an attorney to becoming a business owner.
