Meet Bryan

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Bryan. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Bryan below.

Bryan, thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?

There have been many MANY times where i’ve been the youngest person in the room. In this industry, you can be surrounded my many individuals who aren’t quite under the same age umbrella. while there is nothing wrong with that! it can be a bit challenging at times when you are leading a production as a writer and producer when the rest of the members of the team are older than you. You want to make sure you show everyone that you are capable.

I think the most important detail to address is owning the reality of your difference wether its your age or your ethnicity, with embracing your power. There is a reason you felt inspired to pursue whatever it is at this specific age. I always remind myself that age is truly just a number! as long as you are equipped with the necessary skills and attributes to showcase to everyone that you ARE qualified for the position.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Im completely ecstatic that I recently just attended the East Coast Premiere of my film “It’s Always Raining Somewhere”. Having Written, Produced and star in this project, be accepted into the 20th Annual Sunscreen Film Festival has been a dream come true for me!

While the festival circuit for this film is just getting started, we cant wait to keep sharing this film!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Oh man, Great question. I would say for number one quality/skill most definitely keeping your faith intact. The entertainment industry is always shifting and changing so keeping faith in knowing that whatever direction I elect to go for I know that God will align me on the right path. And also Faith in your ability to perform, write or continue feeding your creative and artistic expression.

Number two, persistence. You need to be persistent about your goals. and sometimes that means getting into the mindset of making/originating an idea straight from you! Sometimes the person you are waiting on, is yourself.

Number three I would say Confidence! I believe so many individuals in any industry love working with people who are confident in themselves and know they are capable of doing whatever the task is required. Stay confident but not cocky, BIG difference.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?

Wow, another great question. I honestly have a huge list of impactful things my parents have done for me!

However, If I were to pick one, it would be how they raised me and educated me the love I have from where I come from. Being born in Puerto Rico and moving to the U.S at such a young age I could have easily forgotten the beauty that is the Spanish language.

Throughout my entire childhood, my parents would instill my sister and I with love and excitement to never forget the Spanish language. Being that my mom didn’t know much english, my sister and I would often be the bridge my mom would have to communicate at times with just english speakers. At home, my parents would actually pay extra to have the local news network in Puerto Rico be available to watch here in the U.S. which allowed me to continue speaking Spanish at home while learning english at school. And because of this I am a fully bilingual individual!

For those of you who may not know, Puerto Rico is indeed a U.S territory however is it not a U.S state.

My entire family still resides in puerto rico, within recent years i’ve been able to re-visit my home island and better yet speak with my family and communicate with everyone in my native tongue.

I love my family and my roots. And will always strive to represent my community in this vast and inclusive industry.

Representando mi Isla hermosa siempre!
