We recently connected with Bryan Barnes and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Bryan with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My work ethic stems from a relentless pursuit of excellence, a drive to push beyond limits, and an unwavering commitment to being the best in everything I do. It’s forged in the fires of adversity, fueled by a passion to achieve greatness, and grounded in the belief that hard work is the cornerstone of success. For me, it’s not just a mentality—it’s a way of life, a dedication to the process that transforms dreams into reality.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am a high-level Art Director with creative experience for leading global brands, award-winning agencies, and iconic film studios. Notable names in my creative portfolio include a diverse range of industry-leading brands—Disney, FOX The Simpsons, Marvel, Gymshark, Nike, FOX Sports, NFL, MLB, EA Sports UFC, Monster Energy, Hulu, Amazon Music, Vizio, and Google.
My artistic journey began at the age of four with pencil art, evolving into a career in the entertainment industry as a Senior Graphic Artist for The Walt Disney Company.
Beyond my roles as an Art Director and Designer, I am also a Fine Artist known for my meticulous hand-drawn, hyper-realistic pencil portraits and captivating digital pixel artistry.
My creative work has been featured with Emmy award-winning actress Zendaya, in Adweek, Vogue, MTV, and the Shorty Awards.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
In my journey, three qualities stood out: relentless determination, an unwavering work ethic, and the ability to turn failures into fuel for success. My advice to those starting their journey is simple: embrace challenges, put in the work, and don’t fear mistakes.
Remember, the path to greatness is paved with hard work, resilience, and an unyielding belief in yourself. Keep pushing, keep learning, and never settle for anything less than your best. That’s the mindset that takes you from good to great.
Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
My journey has been a collective effort, drawing inspiration from various sources. My family, a pillar of support, instilled in me core values, hard work, and resilience. Iconic figures like Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Conor McGregor, David Goggins, and Tyson Fury have been influential mentors, showcasing the determination and mindset required for success.
Moreover, music has played a significant role, providing motivation and focus during challenging times. Tracks like Doja Cat’s ‘Say So,’ Cave In’s ‘Blinded by a Blaze,’ Bongripper’s ‘Worship,’ Judas Priest’s ‘Devil’s Child,’ Hum’s ‘In the Den,’ Slayer’s ‘Raining Blood,’ Grime’s ‘Violence,’ Boris’ ‘Genesis,’ RiFF RAFF’s ‘I Want a Ferrari,’ and Floor’s ‘Rocinante’ have been the soundtrack to my journey, adding rhythm and inspiration to my pursuit of success.
Each of these elements has been instrumental in helping me overcome challenges and develop the skills needed for success.
