We caught up with the brilliant and insightful BTH Blaze a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
BTH, so good to have you with us today. We’ve got so much planned, so let’s jump right into it. We live in such a diverse world, and in many ways the world is getting better and more understanding but it’s far from perfect. There are so many times where folks find themselves in rooms or situations where they are the only ones that look like them – that might mean being the only woman of color in the room or the only person who grew up in a certain environment etc. Can you talk to us about how you’ve managed to thrive even in situations where you were the only one in the room?
Honestly I believe being the only one in the room that looks like me is an advantage. I take pride in proving people wrong time after time and giving my all into my music and entertainment. I may be a phat white guy in an industry that makes it hard for the good guys to win but I can tell you this, just as Jelly Roll did I will go above and beyond everytime to be the best me I can be not only for myself but for the world 🙏

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
What I do as an Artist/Entertainer is bigger than just music and laughs. Be The Hope is a movement not only for the people who are broken and lost but a movement for the people who can help those who are lost or going thru something! My biggest mission in my life is to reach people thru music and show them life is hard and may never be easy but we can all get thru it together! My Hope has kept me striving for better even when I was the only one who believed I could make a difference I chose to keep going. I Hope to bring light to the darkness and music to the quiet and love to the hated🙏

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
3 Qualities I’ve stuck too are Drive,Love, and Emotion and I say these because without Drive I would have given up, Without love I wouldn’t try at all, and without Emotion people would not feel my presence or love or care about the movement of Be The Hope🙏 Please never give up and always be True to yourself!

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
My family is my everything my drive my will and my reason for all the things I’ve done and will do. My whole family has dealt with depression their whole lives including my fiancé and when we lost my mother to heart failure and kidney disease in February this year it hit us all hard and was one of the weakest points in our lives… I didn’t give up when we lost her she showed me how precious this life is and to always be yourself and do what you love! And that’s what I will do and I pray to take care of my family because they believe in me so much they give me the power to do so 🙏
