Meet Bushmama Africa

We were lucky to catch up with Bushmama Africa recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Bushmama , we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

My confidence and self-esteem changed after doing lots of reading on our history of black people before slavery. I began to innerstand that are magical being, fragments of God. Soul power in the flesh. The original beings on earth. This over standing quality of us radiates in our being once activated and released from the imprisonment of our colonized mind. The awakening that has happed to me and within me over the last 50 years has shown me the power and resilience of my people and it alone has given me a deep seated strength and vulnerability that keeps me tuned into that power so that I have no fear to do what I was sent here to do.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Healing Black Lives started by being an invited practitioner to a day long healing retreat for frontline activist, teachers and community members. When those events ended I picked up the baton and started offering my services to non profits making a difference in the lives of marginalized people. In my work offer trauma doula services for rape victims, healing services for survivors of sex trafficking and domestic violence. I offer spiritual services like energy cleaning, spiritual house cleaning and consultations. I am a private practice that has branched out this year to provide healing events for black people. What I love about my work is that I’ve created a community of healers who will provide care when I create and event. When finding is secured I get to pay black people for the magic they share with the world. With or with money we share our gifts so our people can heal.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Perseverance, Courage, Tenacity are the qualities instilled in me by my ancestors to do this work. Having a real ancestral veneration practice is what keeps me on my path and was what launched my journey. It along with lots of ceremonies that led to
Me becoming an initiated priestess is what saved my life. For someone starting their journey I highly recommend finding out what their divine purpose is so that they can fulfill the destiny they have.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

I would love to work with healers everywhere to mobilize our work, to create a database so people can find us. Also looking for folks who have the means who can fund free healing clinics so we can continue to heal black lives.
