Meet BW Bridger

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to BW Bridger. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi BW, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.

Imposter syndrome is something that I think EVERYONE feels or deals with at some point no matter what you are doing. I have never felt like I fit in or belonged ANYWHERE. Even today. I don’t think it is so much something that you can overcome as it is something that you just kinda “feel the fear and do it anyway”. If you can put your ego aside long enough, you can get though anything, and if you want it bad enough, what you think other people think and feel is not relevant in any way.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am a musician / creative type person. Naturally curious about how things work and why. I love to just think about things, and the more complex those things are the more I like to think about them. Music as a whole is a pretty complex topic and activity so I latched on to that at a young age and haven’t stopped since. Putting a working band together that actually functions and gets anywhere other than the rehearsal room is not the simplest of tasks. But I love music and have such a passion for it, that I have pursed it for my entire life. Anything I could do to make money that was music related I would do. I have not just played in bands, but I also built a successful music instruction business, recording studio, I’ve been a solo guitarist for hire, I’ve been a studio musician, countless sit in gigs and now I’m moving into the creative community space with a content creator studio called United Content House DFW and also a band rehearsal facility in North Dallas called The Jam Station which we are building in an 8 story building at 635 and 35 that will have rehearsal rooms for full bands including locals and nationals. Hourly rehearsal spaces as well as offices for music industry professionals and record labels, full scale music instrument retailer, and music school. We are bringing back the “community” support part of the “community”.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

There is only really one skill / quality that matters, and that is tenacity. Don’t give up on what you want EVER. Don’t let people tell you that you can’t do something. In your path to do whatever it is that you do, there will be people that tell you that you can’t do that for whatever reason. Some may have legitimate arguments but that doesn’t mean that you can’t do something. Success is measured in steps that have been accomplished. For example, if your goal is to have a band and write music and play on stage, each step of that is a success. Find players – success. Write a song – success. Play a local gig – success. You just build on the steps that you have completed. Keep your head down and focus on the next step and before you know it you have done what everybody said you couldn’t or wouldn’t do. I’m stubborn as hell so that helps…lol

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

I am always looking for people to collaborate with musically or in business ventures that make sense. My current projects are all for the purpose of supporting creatives of every kind. Artists, musicians, photographers, videographers, writers, and creative IT people with vision. We have a content creator studio called United Content House DFW that will be launching in the next couple of months also at 635 and 35 in North Dallas, literally around the corner from The Jam Station that is for creatives of all types. It will have monthly office/studio rentals as well as hourly and daily rentals and lockouts. I’m looking forward to meeting all the creative people and seeing their visions come to life and learning from them.
