BYANCA, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

I found my purpose through my work as a boutique interior designer in New York. What truly motivated me wasn’t just creating beautiful spaces — it was helping people feel happier and more comfortable in their environments. I noticed how much clients loved when I incorporated living plants into their designs, but many struggled to keep those plants alive long-term. I faced the same challenge myself, relying on generic care instructions that simply didn’t work.

That curiosity led me to start researching plant care more deeply, and I discovered how much each plant’s needs vary based on light, environment, and routine. What began as a personal interest quickly grew into a professional passion — and ultimately became the foundation for Folha Oasis. My purpose became creating a business that makes it easy for people to enjoy beautiful, thriving plants without stress, by combining thoughtful plant design with proper care and long-term support.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I run Folha Oasis, an interior plantscaping company that specializes in designing and maintaining thriving indoor plant environments for both residential and commercial spaces. What sets our work apart is our holistic approach — we don’t just style plants to look beautiful on day one, we design systems that ensure plants remain healthy and vibrant long-term. Each client is paired with a dedicated plant expert who manages their account and personally cares for their plants, creating a seamless, consistent experience built on trust and true plant familiarity.

Every project begins with a lighting and lifestyle assessment, detailed plant selection, custom soil mixes, and thoughtful planter design. From there, our team provides professional installation, personalized care guidance, and ongoing maintenance support, including plant guarantees and proactive replacements when needed. This allows our clients to enjoy greenery without the usual stress or guesswork that comes with plant ownership.

What excites me most is seeing how living plants positively impact people’s well-being. Plants have a powerful ability to calm spaces, boost mood, and create a sense of connection to nature—both at home and in the workplace. It’s incredibly rewarding to watch how excited and proud our clients become about their plants as their spaces come to life. That sense of joy and everyday appreciation is at the heart of why we do what we do. Our goal has always been to make plant care seamless and accessible while delivering a premium, design-forward experience.

As we continue growing, Folha Oasis is expanding our commercial services and education offerings, helping more businesses and homeowners experience the beauty and benefits of professionally designed indoor plant environments.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The first is curiosity paired with persistence. I came from a design background, but my curiosity is what led me to deeply study plants. When I dive into something, “good” is never enough — I aim to truly understand it. I researched, experimented, observed outcomes, and learned hands-on until plant care became a craft I could master and continuously refine. That process of curiosity combined with persistence has shaped not only my expertise, but also the innovative approach behind Folha Oasis.

The second key skill has been creating systems. As the business grew, I knew the only way to maintain exceptional quality in both customer service and plant care was through thoughtful processes. We developed tracking systems to monitor plant health, structured design workflows for consistency, and educational systems to support clients who want to learn more about their plants. These systems allow Folha Oasis to scale while still delivering the same personalized, high-touch experience that defines our brand.

The third quality is genuine care for people and their well-being. Everyone on our team truly loves what we do — we’re plant people, but we’re people-people, too. We care deeply about the environments we create and the joy plants bring to our clients’ daily lives. That authenticity is something clients feel, and it’s been a major reason Folha Oasis has grown so organically through trust and referrals.

My advice for anyone early in their journey is to identify your strengths and build around them, while recognizing where you need support. No one needs to do everything alone. Growth often happens the fastest when you embrace collaboration and ask for help in the areas outside your core strengths.
