We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful C. Ebony Webster. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with C. Ebony below.
Hi C. Ebony , thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
It’s hard overcoming imposter syndrome! It takes a lot to overcome being a perfectionist and to acknowledge and recognize those feelings.
I limit my time on social media which will cause me to create a comparison of my work to other artists which eventually leads to a downward spiral.
Being Self-aware I empower myself by remembering that I have my own view on my creative journey. I remind myself I am a creative artist and there is no one exactly like me with your experiences and perspectives so there is no one who can create exactly like me.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Creative Islander is a. division of Island touch Gifts & Baskets LLC, it is a business that specializes in creating an gifting experience through Balloon Decor, Backdrop Rentals; Picnic Escapes for Dates, Friends & Holiday Celebrations; Suite Celebrations; Kids/Youth Slumber Party; Corporate and Personal Specialty Gifts, and our Caribbean themed hand-crafted products.
Creating an experience is our specialty!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
For anyone who is starting their business journey, my advice would be:
1. Find your niche: Targeting a niche market makes it easier to get to know your target customers. It also makes it much easier to market and sell your business once it’s ready.
2. Don’t fear failure: Not everything you try will work. Failure is a normal part of the process. So long as you learn something, you can move forward wiser and more resilient.
3. Strive for improvement: Focus on improving as you grow. Reflect on your experiences and learn from them so you don’t repeat mistakes. Get a little bit better every day.
4. Enjoy the journey: Being an entrepreneur isn’t glamorous, it’s hard work. Take time to enjoy yourself and surround yourself with positive people. Being a business owner doesn’t mean things are always in your control.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Yes! As we’re constantly growing and transforming our business niche to be more experience based. Collaborating creates opportunities to help new customers celebrate in diverse ways.
Making connections with those who work in different industries help us reach and celebrate our target customers. Though we may be in different industries, our goals can align in a way that can be beneficial.
Collaborating with the wedding planners, Photographers, Non-Profits Organizations and Corporate HR/Marketing departments to name a few will help us reach these goals.
