Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Caitlin Fischer. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Caitlin, so good to have you with us today. We’ve got so much planned, so let’s jump right into it. We live in such a diverse world, and in many ways the world is getting better and more understanding but it’s far from perfect. There are so many times where folks find themselves in rooms or situations where they are the only ones that look like them – that might mean being the only woman of color in the room or the only person who grew up in a certain environment etc. Can you talk to us about how you’ve managed to thrive even in situations where you were the only one in the room?
It’s BECAUSE I’m the only one in the room who looks like me that I can be most effective and successful. My scars are like my own built-in spotlight, and they’re a gateway for people to see into my intrinsic light. It’s a little difficult to navigate, however, because a lot of times I just feel looked at rather than seen. But, I trust that the right people will see me, like they have throughout my life. My uniqueness is a great way to connect with people immediately on a deeper level, which inherently makes me more memorable. Even when I get pitiful reactions, I like to redirect it towards the resilience and positive effects it’s had on my life, because I refuse to take on other people’s projections of my experience. I can serve as their mirror and become a learning experience for them as I gently challenge their preconceived beliefs on scars (visible or invisible). More often than not, people are changed from meeting me in a positive way, whether it’s learning a new way of thinking or simply feeling inspired or lighter energetically.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am an artist at heart, bringing intentional and creative leadership to everything I do. My purpose to catalyze and assist people’s healing journey manifests through several endeavors, including making music, personal training, and teaching yoga. My current and primary passion is music, while I use my fitness career to pay the bills and maintain my own health. Because my goal is the same, I already feel successful no matter how much external validation I receive for any of it. It’s truly such a blessing to be able to walk with purpose and love in all avenues of my life. Ultimately, a successful life to me is one where I live to the max and feel fulfilled in what I do, not how rich or famous I get. While I am driven to take my music and fitness careers as far as they can go, I work BECAUSE I am successful not in order TO BE successful. It’s imperative for me to walk the walk and set this example because ultimately that is what people resonate with the most. They want to see the artist behind the music or the trainer behind the workouts. I want people to see themselves in me, and so it is my responsibility to remain as open, honest, and in-process as I can. I love how my passions keep me accountable and always growing.
I just released a new EP on 11/1 called “Soften” under my artist name CTLN, so go check it it out and let me know how my healing journey lands in you!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Bravery, patience, and adaptability. It takes incredible courage and patience to remain open to life and flow with it rather than hyper-controlling and resisting the inevitable impermanence of life. My best advice is to trust you already have these qualities in you. There’s nothing outside of you that you need to get. Everything you need is available to you now. The journey is more of an uncovering process where you begin to unlearn certain habits, like control and fear, that have prevented you from moving WITH life. Healing is remembering your inherent wholeness.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Yes! LA is lonely af around here and it’s imperative to the healing journey to find your tribe. I know the best music comes from an organic collaborative experience with talented musicians who each bring something new to the table. I’m looking primarily for more spiritually-aligned musicians who are passionate towards making music in order to elevate and awaken the collective consciousness. I’m looking for patient artists who aren’t as interested in making a quick “hit” but rather look towards making the best song possible. It’d be cool if they played an unconventional instrument, like the crystal harp or the flute or various international drums.
Think Jhené Aiko meets Cleo Sol meets Summer Walker meets a yoga class.
