Meet Caitlin Wise

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Caitlin Wise. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Caitlin below.

Hi Caitlin, so happy you were able to devote some time to sharing your thoughts and wisdom with our community. So, we’ve always admired how you have seemingly never let nay-sayers or haters keep you down. Can you talk to us about how to persist despite the negative energy that so often is thrown at folks trying to do something special with their lives?
I don’t know that I’ve been in business long enough to have “haters” per se, but I think it’s really important to remember that any time someone has an outward problem with you or your business, it’s more reflective of that person and not you. Keep your mission and purpose in view, and move forward with that in mind.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Now that designwise KC has been in business for a year, I’m excited to focus on making some changes to our portfolio moving forward in 2024. Specifically, I’ll be adding event planning and design into our designwise KC services! I have almost a decade of experience in managing and planning events, but with the pandemic moving all events online for (over) a year, I was burnt out and knew I needed a break. Adding event planning into the designwise KC portfolio was always a part of my plans for this business, and I’m excited to see those plans finally come to life.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Having experience working on a variety of events/in a variety of industries has been extremely helpful as a vendor in the events and weddings industry! Other than that: knowing how to use a spreadsheet + being resourceful in the moment are the most important skills I have in the events space.

Advice: you need real world experience! You want to be a wedding planner? Work for a wedding planner! Want to open a bakery? Work at a bakery! There is no amount of education that can substitute real world experience.

How would you describe your ideal client?
I love working with any client who is looking for a “unique to them” perspective for their event. Finding Pinterest inspiration is easy – I want to hear about YOUR story, YOUR mission, what’s important to YOU and use that information to create an experience that’s memorable for you and your guests.
