We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Caleb Clark. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Caleb below.
Hi Caleb, great to have you with us today and excited to have you share your wisdom with our readers. Over the years, after speaking with countless do-ers, makers, builders, entrepreneurs, artists and more we’ve noticed that the ability to take risks is central to almost all stories of triumph and so we’re really interested in hearing about your journey with risk and how you developed your risk-taking ability.
When it comes to being able to take risks, you have to treat it like you would an investment. Never take on more risk than you can handle should things go awry. As you grow, your ability to take on more risk also grows.
Personally, I always make my decision based on my ability to cover the costs should risk turn into a loss. If I can’t cover it, I do not take on that risk. If I can and I think it will be rewarding for me/my business, then I will likely take the chance.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My name is Caleb Clark and I am the owner of Exit Right Productions, LLC. – a media production company in Atlanta, Georgia. I started this business back in 2019 and incorporated as an LLC in 2021. We started off working with businesses and individuals – helping to build brands and provide media to support a strong presence online. Over the last two years, we have started to expand into wedding filmmaking and have grown significantly due to that expansion.
I’ve always had the belief that small businesses, nonprofits, and individuals should have access to high quality video & photo services at prices they can afford. We have positioned ourselves as a low-risk investment into building brand identity and presence.
In the coming year, we are planning to continue our expansion into wedding films by launching a new brand, Tilted Frame Weddings. We are also looking to take on a few more business clients under Exit Right Productions.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
For me, three things that have had the biggest impact on me are: understanding that I don’t control everything, investing in marketing, and building rapport with clients early on.
My advice for anyone that is early on in their journey or even far along would be to come to terms with the fact that you don’t control everything. With this understanding you can then think of ways that you can join in the crazy and make it work for you. By understanding that I don’t control everything, I invest in marketing that puts me in front of people I can’t reach on my own. By understanding that I don’t control everything, I do my best to establish a rapport and connection with my clients early on in the inquiry process. While I can’t control whether the client books me or not, I can establish a relationship and better my chances.
