We were lucky to catch up with Calipso Aranda recently and have shared our conversation below.
Calipso , so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
It took years to get this confidence that I have it was not done overnight I still get nervous before I have to go onstage to host , I had to train and develop my skills and my craft and not to mention my voice delivery , It’s mainly the reaction to the crowed that helps me a whole lot and when they are a vibe the rest of the show is a whole vibe , my self esteem came from acceptance of my true-self after I had my 2nd child I thought I wouldnt be able to bounce back cause I knew I had nto do things alone I feel like having self esteem is the same as self -love you have to love yourself first and pep talks to yourself are always a must .
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I have been an MC Host for more than 15 years I have done Fashion Shows , Festivals , Car Shows , Community Benefit Galas, to Cultural Events , Concerts , Panels you name it I probably Hosted it
I just wrapped up filming my own Latina Talk Show Called “The Calipso Show’ Coming the End of this Year with Chicano Hollywood it was so much fun we had amazing Influental guest from all walks of life you can download the Chicano Hollywood TV app my show will be available to binge watch soon
I did a major career shift change I went from Radio Broadcasting to Insurance Life and now I’m in Healthcare Mental Health to be exact I wanted to be in a place where I can help others and that’s exactly what I’m doing now
The Hosting and the Entertainment part of this feeds my soul its my passion it helps me grow plus it’s so much fun meeting new artist like myself that inspire , inform , entertain and help others .
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
My three qualities are definatly is Ambition , Hardworking , and I’m Humble
you have to be smart with your ambition and learn from your mistakes to always be a student take advice from someone who’s an expert and knows what they are talking about but also don’t let things get to your head .
I get my hard working skills from both my parents one of many things they taught me they always tell me to never give up
I feel that with everything that you do you always have to remain Humble , cause you can easily loose what you have in a heartbeat and I mean anything you should always be grateful for what you have even if its not what you want right now in this very moment but stay humble someone is praying to have half the things you have right now ego is not your amigo
What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
I have to say it’s been a few areas I don’t let things get to me and I don’t take things personal when things are being said to me , I no longer feel the need to explain myself or try to prove my validation , if some ppl wake up and choose negativity that is a reflection of themselves not me and I can no longer partake in that energy just keep it moving I cant let things get in the way of my goals and my money I have grown so much as a person , I have learned to let things go in the last 12 months and just focus on what makes me happy and my surroundings also I have learned to be paitient things will happen or come to me when the time is right I have acomplished so much in 12 months that I probably just need to slow down .
