We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Cam Gordon a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Cam, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
“Asking for help is not a weakness, it is a superpower.” A quote that went against everything I had been conditioned to at the time…
At the age of 34, after more than two decades of relentless pursuit in the culinary and hospitality industries, I found myself at a crossroads. I was overwhelmed, questioning whether I was advancing for my own fulfillment or merely moving through motions defined by others. This realization struck deeply—I needed to slow down, to give myself space to reflect on my true direction.
My journey towards my purpose began at 13 in a bustling kitchen, where my passion for cooking ignited. This led me to chef school, but soon, life took unexpected turns. I transitioned from cooking to serving and then to restaurant management. Each pivot, while moving me away from my initial dream of becoming a chef, taught me invaluable lessons in business operations and the importance of effective systems.
Years later, as I climbed the ranks in top restaurants, another opportunity emerged—a chance to enter the wine industry as a sales representative. This role was a rollercoaster of highs and lows, but it wasn’t fulfilling in the way I had hoped. In 2018, after receiving another routine annual raise, dread set in… Will this repeat in another year’s time? Is it enough?
I was ready for a change—a significant one.
I made the bold decision to quit my sales job, sell everything, and move from Vancouver, BC to the south of Spain to start a social media management company! Nobody saw that coming!
This new venture demanded all of my accumulated expertise, blending direct customer interaction with digital marketing strategies. I was obsessed!
Despite initial success, I soon hit the same wall of overwhelm. My business was thriving, but I was not. Following the wise advice of my partner, I took a break to regroup and reflect. During this time, I invested in a top-tier mindset mentor, who helped bring clarity to my scattered thoughts. It was a period of intense soul-searching, where I evaluated my skills, my passions, and whom I truly wanted to support.
This introspection and guidance helped me connect the dots between my deep-seated love for culinary arts and my acquired expertise in sales and marketing. I realized that my unique set of skills was perfectly suited to a niche that inspired me to the max: meal prep businesses.
The pivotal moment came when I recognized that my journey through various industries wasn’t just a series of jobs… It was a path leading to a distinct purpose. I was meant to empower meal prep entrepreneurs, leveraging my experience to help them navigate the complexities of marketing and sales.
Finding my purpose required stepping back, thinking introspectively about my own desires, and acknowledging that I needed help to see the potential of my experiences. It was a journey of connecting my highest skills and greatest passions with a clear focus on whom I could best serve. This clarity has since directed every step of my career, guiding me to where I am today—helping meal prep businesses flourish and supporting leaders to impact their communities.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Hello! I’m Cam Gordon, a Sales and Marketing Consultant deeply immersed in the meal prep industry. I specialize in supporting leaders to change the trajectory of their meal prep business by installing innovative systems that drive lead generation and sales.
Since embracing the mantra “Courage Over Comfort” in 2018, I endlessly pursue challenges that spur growth, including relocating to Spain, moving to Mexico, and returning to Spain again in 2024. Each move has been a step toward new horizons, teaching me the power of stepping out of my comfort zone. Believe me, every day for the last 6 years has not gone as expected… And that is what forces you to grow.
I’m a firm believer in the power of seeking help to unlock potential. Over the past four years, I’ve had the privilege of learning from some of the best in various fields:

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I learned the hard way through a lot of failure in my sales career that Sales is Relationship Building.
Some areas in Sales Psychology that fascinate me and have opened doors are:
How people buy
How people spend money
How people spend time
Why people make decisions
Why people decide to make changes
Clarity is one of the more recent powers I have unlocked.
“The more clear you are about exactly what it is you want, the more your brain knows how to get there.” Tony Robbins
Since just 2022 I have focused on clarity in my own life and also cement it into my consulting clients businesses because it is a catalyst to head in the right direction together!
Having clarity of what you want to do and why is important, but even more important to believe that you can do what you are setting out to do.
A few other areas i align with:
Courage Over Comfort
Take Imperfect Action
Do hard S#it
Live with intention and with absolute accountability for your life
Take chances and make mistakes

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
I remeber receiving a phone call while I was driving that made me swerve off the highway to take that call. It was global restaurateur, Vikram Vij on my call display returning my insistent outreach and confirming to meet and chat together about wine.
My wine sales career had been going horribly for a year and I wanted to make headway with a man I had idolized for over a decade.
As I walked into one of his new restaurants to pitch him my wine portfolio I remeber being nervous (He was also a judge and investor on Dragons Den, Canada’s Shark Tank)
I recall aiming my sales pitch directly at him for about 10 minutes before he even said anything at all. I knew i was bombing and then he spoke up to say, “Cameron, tell me about yourself.”
I was baffled and thought to myself… What!? Dont you want to know grape varietals, prices, formats, tasting notes…?
I began sharing about my time in kitchens at 13. Running a kitchen at 17. Going to chef school and dropping out. running top restaurants in the city…
We connected deeply for the next 15 minutes and without another mention about wine he then told me… “Cameron, I would like to work with you.”
I learned that day that Sales is Relationshiop Building and it changed my life.
