Meet Cambree Doll

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Cambree Doll. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Cambree with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

I’m a hustler by nature and have always been a focused driven person even when I was a child. I’ve always been dedicated to the things I love. A huge part of that comes from dance, specifically ballet. The discipline that ballet requires from you, if you want to truly be good at it, is similar if not harder than that of professional athletes. I started taking ballet serious at the age of 9 so that level of work ethic was instilled in me from a really young age. I dont have the typical ballet body type so I had to work extra hard to be able to get into the conservatories I wanted to attend when I was older. The discipline that was required of me then has carried over to all other aspects of my life now as an adult, Forever grateful for growing up with that type of focus for something I love so much.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’m a dancer/performer and also own my own jewelry company, Doll+Gopaul, with my business partner Rachelle Gopaul Henderson. I’m a freelance performer and do all styles ranging from ballet, latin, modern, bellyndance and most recently dancing with fire depending on what the job calls for. I have been able to fuse all the styles of dance that I have learned and add that element of fire into my shows which has been really lucrative for me. I love being able to bring that wow factor to an event and help to create the overall vibe. Aside from my dance career my jewelry business is the other thing that keeps me busy. We are a small business and do everything from the designing, making the actual pieces, sourcing the materials, social media content, photography, styling, marketing, basically eveything the business entails we do it all on our own. We currently sell our pieces online at dollandgopaul.com. Being an entrepreneur can be extremely difficult and draining at times but also very rewarding as well. There is nothing like seeing our visions and designs be brought to life and knowing that we created that from start to finish. Our jewelry line specializes in body jewelry such as body chains, hand chains, and crystal bras. We use a lot of semi precious crystals and stones and incorporate the healing properties of those stones as well as the spiritual benefits they can bring to you when designing our pieces. Hands chains are just now becoming more popular on a wide range commercial level and we definitely were one of the first brands to start making them years ago before anyone else was. So it feels really good to know that our ideas are it, even if the majority does not catch on right away.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The 3 qualities that have been super important on my journey is determination, adaptability, and the eagerness to continue to grow and learn. Being an entrepreneur and in the entertainment industry can be extremely difficult and is never an easy road and there is never one way to make it happen. Everyones path is different but in order to make it you have to be driven and determined to make it. You must develop a tough skin and be able to proceed even when things may not go the way you had envisioned or planned. Which is why you have to be able to adapt to whatever is being thrown at you, good or bad, and understand that everything is a learning process. The more mistakes you make and the more nos you may hear will hopefully only show you where you still need to grow and help to bring you into alignment with what it is that is meant for you. My best advice is to know your why, to do something you truly love and are passionate about and to never let the seemingly bad/slower moments deter you from your vision. Everything truly does happen in divine timing as long as you are putting in the work to make it happen.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?

My parents always allowed me to be who I was and never tried to force me into a box. I was clear on the fact that I was a creative and wanted to be a dancer since I could walk. My family never tried to force me to become anything other than what I wanted to be. Being in the entertainment industry as well as starting your own business can be risky and not always the most stable of career paths but my family knew I was meant for this life and never tried to convince me to get a normal college degree or a corporate job. Not that there is anything wrong with those things but they just knew that wasnt the path for me. They trusted that I was smart enough, talented enough and determined enough to make my life happen the way I saw fit. So blessed to have a family that helped me hone in on my creative ways since I was a child.
