We were lucky to catch up with Camerone Elise Parker recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Camerone Elise, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
RESILIENCE = In silence I RISE ….I am fiercely supported by a dynamic Posse that are each a strong, unique thread in my life. Once woven together….this protective, gorgeous tapestry surrounds me with warm everlasting strength: I am reminded of their love daily.
For me, resilience never blurs the lines of right versus wrong. As much of the world knows, the coping/healing cycle of my very public health recovery shows resilience in action. As a child – my parents, Elise and Bill Chambers fostered balanced coping skills for my brother and I. I’m talking about nurturing the ability to cope with ups and downs of school, friendships and life. My parents were not perfect and never claimed to be. I learned firsthand that I deal with things differently than my brother. To this very day, We BOTH are resilient balanced adults. By fostering love, understanding and boundaries – I have a grounded perspective, not entitlement to guide me.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Well – I can’t limit this list to just three things…call it Camerone’s Top 5:
1) Be optimistic! A simple prayer of thanks every morning starts the day with Gratitude
2) Remain flexible…keep an open mind – a closed mind is the most expensive thing one could own.
3) Develope active coping skills (this truly occurs over time!)
4) Maintain a healthy supportive, trusted network. This is VITAL..
5) Embrace a personal moral compass that includes balanced boundaries.
What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
When I think about improvement….it starts with inspiration, Honestly……what inspires me most are ordinary people who have done extraordinary things. I treasure inspiration stemming from creativity, selfless acts of kindness, positivity. Above all…I am deeply inspired by those who simply dare to be different!
In closing – I’ll leave you with this: Instead of looking for role models….BECOME one yourself. It doesn’t matter where you are in life…highs …lows…what you have or have not achieved. Every woman has the gift to inspire. Becoming a role model isn’t dependent on who you are… famous or not. The love of giving back and inspiring others comes loaded with many personal benefits. As a role model, you never know who you’re going to impact …just by the simplistic giving of your model self. On the flip side… you never know who might be in position to reciprocate if you yourself are in a time of great need. For me…giving is the best medicine around. Giving leaves a role model legacy that is cemented and….remembered forever.
