Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Cami Taleisnik. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Cami, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
I’ve faced significant challenges throughout my life, including undergoing surgeries that directly impacted my ability to do what I love. I had a tumor removed from my knee, forcing me to relearn how to walk again, and later, a cyst was removed from my vocal cords, requiring me to regain my voice. Despite these setbacks, giving up was never an option. When you’re driven by passion, it’s not something you choose—it chooses you. This inner fire pushes you to overcome whatever obstacles are in your way, so you can return to the stage and share your talent and passion.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m an Argentinian actor, singer, and dancer currently based in New York City. I grew up in Córdoba, Argentina, where my passion for theater began during high school. Despite choosing to study architecture and earning a bachelor’s degree, I never strayed far from my artistic pursuits, continuously training in acting, singing, and dancing. I also performed as a singer in various bands, mostly focusing on Jazz and French music. After moving to Buenos Aires to fully embrace my artistic career, I balanced both architecture and performing. Post-lockdown, I relocated to Mexico, where I sang in hotels across Tulum, Playa del Carmen, and Cancún. Now, I’ve found my way to New York, where I’m fully immersed in my work as a professional actor.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I believe my greatest strengths have always been my determination, persistence, and the positive energy I bring to my career. My advice to those just starting their journey is simple: keep going, even when progress feels invisible. Success doesn’t come overnight, but if you stay committed—by continuously training, showing up to classes and auditions, and doing the inner work—opportunities will eventually come your way. The key is to never give up on what you’re passionate about and to trust that your efforts will pay off.
Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
The “Seven Spiritual Laws of Success” by Deepak Chopra was the first book that truly guided me during the early stages of my journey as an artist, closely followed by “The Artist’s Way” by Julia Cameron. Both books have been invaluable, not only in shaping my artistic path but also in my personal growth. I highly recommend them to anyone, whether as an artist or simply as an individual seeking deeper fulfillment. One of the key lessons from Chopra’s book that resonated with me is the power of focused intention and desire in manifesting reality. By setting clear goals and nurturing your dreams with awareness and action, you can align yourself with the universe to make them a reality. Another important principle is learning to let go of attachment to outcomes. Releasing rigid expectations allows you to embrace uncertainty, which in turn opens the door to new possibilities and growth, and I really feel I’m on that path!
