We recently connected with Camila Battiato and have shared our conversation below.
Camila, so glad you were able to set aside some time for us today. We’ve always admired not just your journey and success, but also the seemingly high levels of self-discipline that you seem to have mastered and so maybe we can start by chatting about how you developed it or where it comes from?
My self-discipline comes from a mix of personal values and early experiences. Growing up, I learned the importance of dedication and follow-through from both of my parents and now my husband. They taught me that if I wanted something, I had to take the initiative to go after it. This lesson took time to fully appreciate, but when I began studying architecture, I knew that being a diligent student and a hard worker would be key to building a successful future.
As an interior designer, self-discipline means staying organized, meeting deadlines, and giving every project the attention it deserves: from concept to completion. Whether it’s managing client expectations or refining design details, I remain committed to delivering my best work.
Being passionate about design helps, too! I’m always eager to learn and improve, and that passion naturally fuels my self-discipline.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m an architect and interior designer with over 7 years of experience, currently working with the talented team at Havenly. My passion lies in creating spaces that blend functionality with style, ensuring every design feels lived-in and uniquely tailored to the people who use it. I specialize in rustic, organic modern, and warm transitional styles, always bringing a thoughtful mix of textures, palettes, and patterns to create spaces that are not only beautiful but also personal and inviting.
What excites me most about my work is the transformation process. Seeing an idea evolve from an initial concept board into a fully realized space is incredibly rewarding. I love collaborating with clients, understanding their needs, and crafting designs that enhance their daily lives. Whether it’s the perfect cozy nook, a statement wall, or a unique furniture piece, every detail matters.
Right now, I’m focused on growing my presence within the design community through Instagram [@camilaxhavenly] by sharing design tips, fabric combinations, and inspiring before-and-after projects. I’m also dedicated to exploring new trends and sharing everything I can to help easily inspire others.
I believe that great design is about balance: where style meets comfort, and creativity meets function. I’m excited to keep learning, evolving, and helping others create spaces that feel like home.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, the three most impactful qualities for me have been adaptability, attention to detail, and problem-solving.
Adaptability: Design trends and client needs are constantly changing, and being flexible has helped me thrive. My advice is to embrace change and view challenges as growth opportunities.
Attention to Detail: The small details in design make a big impact. For beginners, I recommend practicing on smaller projects to sharpen your eye for detail and always take 30 minutes to get new inspiration.
Problem-Solving: Design often requires finding creative solutions to unexpected challenges. My tip is to develop a mindset that sees obstacles as opportunities to innovate.
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed, I take a short break, drink some water, and sometimes go for a 10-minute walk outside. It helps me clear my mind and come back refreshed. My advice is to break tasks into smaller steps, stay organized, and don’t hesitate to take a moment for yourself to reset.
