Meet Camila Gonzalez Ruiz

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Camila Gonzalez Ruiz a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Camila , thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?

I keep my creativity alive, by transmitting my ideas and thoughts into other people. I mean when I create something for example if i created a choreography and got other people to do it, in the sense of they may find their own way into love it and feel the passion for dancing and joy But still following the idea and creation that I did.I feel that I got more motivated to create and continue pushing myself with my projects and ideas .

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I am Colombian, I am 25 years old, I’m an only child,I always been in love with dancing for as long as I can remember.
I like sports, especially volleyball and skating, I like to cook and prepare food from my country it makes happy .
I love animals specially reptiles and plants, I enjoy a good conversation, I am good at listening to other people.
I appreciate good friendships, my favorite genre of music is salsa, it always reminds me of my mom.
I am a very family person, who loves her family and spending time with them.
I think that time is the most valuable thing for human beings.
Right now I’m focused on building my path as a professional dancer, continue to learn and progress my talent and passion. Taking classes and eating well. Having discipline with myself and commitment is the key for me .

Now what excites me the most is dancing and being able to show people how much I love doing it, I want to continue participating in everything related to the dance industry. Like musical video clips, events , presentations, performances or collaborations with other dancers etc.
I will continue to teach and collaborate with other dancers.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Adaptability:the world and life is constantly changing, but i have the ability to adapt to the changes that arise.
Persevering:I have disciplined and patient ,i work to achieve my life objectives and goals, i do not give up. No matter how difficult the situation is, I always strive to follow my dreams.
I take the initiative, i plan and make decisions, I positively influence the people around my to achieve a common.
The advice I can give is what I am applying for myself at this time , for me life is a balance , talking about in one side you have your responsibilities and duties including study , work , my health . and on the other side , having fun ,your hobbies or going out with friends and enjoy the things we like in life without worries .

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?

My area of growth was in a personal way, rediscovering myself. In the last 12 months I had a very difficult moment that led me to return to search internally for what it makes me happy, people who are in my close circle know what I was living and the things I was going through, my life became a meaningless routine.
Believing in myself , gave me the strength to find my life purpose at this time , I returned to make me an extroverted , cheerful , honest , tolerant and happy woman .
