We were lucky to catch up with Candace Dillon recently and have shared our conversation below.
Candace , so good to have you with us today. We’ve got so much planned, so let’s jump right into it. We live in such a diverse world, and in many ways the world is getting better and more understanding but it’s far from perfect. There are so many times where folks find themselves in rooms or situations where they are the only ones that look like them – that might mean being the only woman of color in the room or the only person who grew up in a certain environment etc. Can you talk to us about how you’ve managed to thrive even in situations where you were the only one in the room?
Being the only person in the room, who “looks like me,”is the norm at times, but I know how special and how successful I’m going to be. Success isn’t measured to me by how many people do or don’t look like me in the room. I’ll make it happen or I won’t with the worry of being the only “me in the room.” I appreciate those that help me get to my success, rather they look like me or not!
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
What I do… Well, A’ron Monroe B&P reminds women about how awesome and beautiful they are. I also, show them how to go down the rabbit hole that they may not think they are capable of doing. It’s special because I can create any person they may have been or have always wanted to be for themselves, a special someone, or just to party! I’ve even launched a heels class where I can make you a dancer in the privacy of Zoom, your home or an event space.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Most impactful… I would have to say patience, being well-rounded and problem solving. Without knowing passion projects take time, I would have quit a long time ago due to frustration. Being well-rounded has allowed me to have experiences and deal with all types of people. I analyze and brainstorm a lot and that keeps me focused and consistently thinking of things. Best advice to give would be never give up and know that it is hard and will continue to be hard, doesn’t mean you have a bad idea!
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I am definitely looking to collaborate with a lot of different people and/ or companies. . I would love to have a few lingerie and workout collaborations, as well as makeup. It’s always great to have a partnership and be able to have A’ron Monroe as a face and a partner. Please email me to collaborate at aronmonroebp@gmail.com
