Candice, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
When we started Under the Stars Glamping Adventures, we just wanted to get people camping. We wanted families to spend time together, disconnect from busy their lives, and reconnect over s’mores and campfires. By providing our glamping experiences, people could enjoy tent camping without having to worry about having any equipment, the lengthy set up, or the exhausting clean up. As we began to promote our business, we realized that there was a need for our services that went beyond just camping in the woods. We started to have inquiries for birthday sleepovers, dinner parties, and weddings, As people made requests for colors, themes, and set ups, our services began to cater to these needs and the types of adventures available began to grow. We now provide indoor teepees for those who want to stay inside. You can have luxury picnic in or out of the tent. We provide luxury movie nights for backyards and local community centers. Our tents have been used for yoga retreats, sound baths, bridal showers, groomsmen’s suites, guest accommodations, spa parties and more! With a fleet of 15 outdoor bell tents and 40 indoor teepees, we are here to create whatever dream you have for an adventure under the stars.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Under the Stars Glamping Adventures is a mobile glamping company that brings the fun and adventure to you! Our company is special because we offer such a variety of luxury services for every occasion. Whether it’s a baby shower or a first birthday, Sweet 16 or a wedding, we have something unique and fun to add to your celebrations. One of our most unique set ups is our village. Our “pop-up hotel” is great for weekend weddings, retreats, reunions, and more. Guests can stay together and enjoy the outdoors while having all the luxuries of a hotel room. With queen foam mattresses on custom wooden bed frames, table and chair sets, luggage racks, crates, and lanterns, guests will feel comfortable and cozy . Our glamping adventures can provide lounge tents, movie nights, picnics and more! We promise that whatever adventure you choose, we strive to exceed your expectations and provide you an unforgettable experience!
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three qualities that I feel have been the most impactful in our journey is determined, flexible, and collaborative. We have been determined to meet other companies and get our name and brand out into the community. We’ve also been determined to be the best that we can be and provide people with a unique experience with unparalleled customer service. Being flexible is definitely a very important quality in entrepreneurship. In our business, we are constantly setting up in new locations, customizing our set ups, and adjusting to the weather. We have to flex and face whatever challenges come our way, with a smile on our face. We are there for our clients to make their experience as stress -free as possible and we will adjust whatever we need to make their glamping vision come to life. The last quality that I feel has been extremely important as we grow our business is collaborative. We are always working hard to meet new businesses and find ways that we can work together and/or learn from each other. The beginning of our glamping journey was all about going to events and meeting people. With networking, we were getting our name out there for others to share, as well as getting names of businesses that we can share with our clients. Then we started working together and collaborating to support each other’s businesses. Through collaboration I have made friends, colleagues, and customers. It is definitely key in being successful! My advice for anyone starting a business is to find something that you truly love and share it with others. When you are passionate about something, people see it and they love your company for it. Every set up that we do becomes a part of our story and we love that people chose us to help them make unforgettable memories!
Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
The person that has been most helpful in overcoming challenges in this company has been my husband. He has been my cheerleader, my partner, my muscle, and my go-to-guy for everything. This company would not exist without his support. We do almost every set up together when we can, and if not, we divide and conquer. He always says how proud he is of me and is always sharing our company and our story with others. We both have other jobs – he’s a firefighter and I’m a teacher. Sometimes we get tired, but we don’t get tired of the company or each other. If you’re going to have a business and be successful, make sure you have a partner that’s ready for the ride because it’s definitely an adventure you’ll want to be ready for together!
