Meet Candice Taylor

 

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Candice Taylor. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Candice, so excited to talk about all sorts of important topics with you today. The first one we want to jump into is about being the only one in the room – for some that’s being the only person of color or the only non-native English speaker or the only non-MBA, etc Can you talk to us about how you have managed to be successful even when you were the only one in the room that looked like you?

I believe that Authenticity is necessary when moving the narrative around an elephant in the room. Also understanding the opposite’s position and character. I am often perceived as too honest but avoiding the situation at hand is a waste of everyone’s time.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

The first thing I want to do is thank you for this opportunity to introduce our brand to Culver City.

I have worked in Art, fashion, music, production and public relations for over 25 years.

My first fine art gallery opened in 1996 when I formed my corporation.

The Taylor Fine Art holds monthly art exhibitions that spotlights master level artists. We focus on artist that have had many previous shows and are now entering the museum space. This allows our art collectors early access to the investment aspect of fine art.

In addition to the art gallery I own TaylorMadePR.US. Our portfolio of clients are in the fields of fashion, fine art, music, entertainment, hospitality, charity – any creative field involving luxury lifestyles. Whether it is media outlet placement, fashion celebrity endorsement or connection with a decision maker for a major publication or luxury retailer, TaylorMadePR.US focuses on the best opportunity at hand for our creative clients in real time.

I also work as a wardrobe stylist on stagings for major red carpet events in collaboration with Oh Mannequin. Our most recent work has all been for film and television shows which are up for for the highest awards in entertainment. To give you an idea of the caliber of our projects – Oh Mannequin has worked on events several times over at the Emmys, Grammys, Oscars and Tonys.

We are closely involved with many charity organization. My mother raised her children to be of strong faith. Mom taught us that you get what you give and that motto has been the unseen key to my success all these years. The best way of realizing our faith is through action. Bolstering community art programs that educate, esteem and place artists and businesses in spaces that are mostly unavailable to them currently is the heart and soul of our purpose.

Right now we are working on a collaboration with Summer Colony Living, a boutique in Palm Desert. We will be bringing the Halston archive back to the forefront. The fashion event will be comprised of the newly revamped collection which focuses on the authenticity of Halston’s first designs.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Collaborating with my clients with a sense of honesty and authenticity, cultivating generational relationships, and living life with a strong work ethic that is paired with calculated high reward risks.

My advice to mastering these skills is to be authentic to yourself, be honest, get up and do the work as well as reach out to people everyday, and believe your business will succeed.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

We are a fine art gallery. We are looking to show artists that have exhibited more than fifteen shows are welcome to exhibit their work.

Taylor Fine Art is also looking for corporate and wine sponsorships for charity events, collegiate exhibitions and fundraisers.
