Meet Canisha Pope

We were lucky to catch up with Canisha Pope recently and have shared our conversation below.

Canisha, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
In most cases, I keep my creativity alive by watching a lot of TikTok and Youtube videos about current trends. I also lookout for the most current trends so help keep myself inspired!

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My name is Canisha Pope. I’m 32 years old from Prince Georges County, Maryland. My passion is hospitality & creating great experience for people. I am a graduate of Prince Georges Community College & University of Maryland Eastern Shore majoring in Hospitality & Tourism Management. I am currently attending Johnson & Wales University online & pursuing my Masters in Hospitality & Tourism Management. I will be completed in 2025. My 9-5 is currently a Sales Coordinator/Administrative Assistant at the Westin Alexandria Old Town where I work in the Sales and Events Department of the hotel. My overall goal is to move up to become an Event Manager where I run the various events held here on property.

I am a Travel Agent. CP Experience & Travel is the name of my company because I believe that creating a great experience for my clients & helping them being able to travel anywhere that they wish is something that I love. I became a travel agent last year in January. This was something that I always looked into and was intrigued by it, but I was always scared of the work that came with it. I can say by far, this has been one of the best experiences & I absolutely love it.

I love creating the experience for anyone who wants to travel or plan an event especially on a budget. One thing that sets me apart for others is that I am very attentive, and that I’m very patient. Being able to help any client walk through their process makes my job great and what I live for! I love being able to create the experience for my clients.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
In my personal journey, three important qualities/areas of knowledge that were extremely impactful in my journey are patience, being positive, and having a mentor to help guide me throughout the process.

In the hospitality industry, its important to know how to deal with different kinds of people and their cultures/backgrounds.

The one thing that I was taught and has helped me along the way is to take a risk on myself, and just put the best foot out and let everything fall in line. Mistakes will be made and that’s perfectly fine 🙂 its the best learning experience!

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
My ideal client? Someone who is ready for an adventure! I love creating experiences for people and I want to be a big part of that journey for someone when they are ready!
