Meet Carita Miller

We recently connected with Carita Miller and have shared our conversation below.

Carita , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
When I heard the mesmerizing sounds of the R&B group H-Town, my love for music took an electrifying turn. It was a lucky find that felt like opening a hidden treasure chest full of soulful music. My musical tastes were deeply touched by H-Town’s sultry harmonies, moving lyrics, and smooth rhythms. I became interested and motivated & became immersed in the art that defined a time. The high point of this journey was when I got to help H-Town make their first national TV appearance on BET Network. Seeing their skill and charisma captivate audiences on such a big stage was not only a moment of accomplishment, but also proof of how music has the power to change lives. It made my love for the art form stronger and made me more determined to give great artists chances to show what they can do on a bigger platform.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
As an independent music supervisor and artist manager, my work revolves around curating impactful soundtracks for various media projects while also nurturing the careers of talented artists. The thrill lies in connecting with artists, understanding their unique voices, and creating opportunities that propel their careers to new heights.

One of the most exciting aspects of my role is the ability to bridge the gap between artists and opportunities. Whether it’s securing placements in films, TV shows, or commercials as a music supervisor or guiding artists through their creative journeys as a manager, the satisfaction comes from witnessing the fusion of artistic vision and real-world success.

In terms of my brand, I am thrilled to share that I will be heading the music department at Mainstreem, a dynamic network that is set to revolutionize the way we experience media content . This venture allows me to bring my passion for music curation to a broader audience, fostering a community where artists and enthusiasts can discover, connect, and collaborate.

I’m also excited to introduce a promising new artist, Ari B, who is poised to make waves in the music industry. Stay tuned for upcoming speaking panels where I’ll share insights into the evolving landscape of music curation, artist management, and the exciting projects on the horizon. Additionally, there are film projects in the works that promise to deliver captivating soundscapes and elevate the cinematic experience.

I invite you to join me on this journey where the power of music meets innovative platforms, talented artists, and groundbreaking projects. The future is bright, and I’m eager to share these musical adventures with you.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I’ve adopted the mindset of always learning. Being curious and able to change is very important in a world that changes quickly. It has made a big difference to keep looking for new information, different points of view, and ways to learn new skills. Being able to learn new things and use them is a very useful skill. I’ve been able to get these skills through formal education, online courses and self-directed learning. Being able to communicate clearly is an important skill for everyone to have. Clear and concise communication is important whether you are working with others, sharing your ideas, or dealing with problems. This includes being able to talk and write clearly, as well as listen carefully and see things from different points of view. I’ve learned that problems and setbacks are unavoidable, but that being able to get back up and change is key to long-term success. I’ve become more resilient by seeing problems as chances to learn and grow. It’s important to accept that uncertainty and change are normal parts of any journey. Being able to change with the times and learn from mistakes is a valuable skill.

If I had to give people who are just starting out any advice on how to best develop or improve these? I would tell them to actively seek out learning opportunities in areas that are related to their interests and goals. Don’t be afraid to explore different topics and get out of their comfort zone. Make it a habit to keep up with changes and trends in your field. Second, I would tell them to improve their communication skills by practicing putting their thoughts into words, listening to others carefully, and asking for helpful feedback. Its imperative to improve your written communication skills, as they are often very important in the workplace. Remember that communicating well means more than just saying what you want to say. It also means making sure that what you say is understood. Lastly, I would tell them to build resilience by seeing setbacks as opportunities to learn. Accept change as a chance to grow as a person and in their career. To get through tough times, find a mentor or someone who can help you, and remember that adaptability is a skill that can be developed through practice.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
You can find me working as an independent music supervisor in Detroit and connect with me via any social media platform via the following link https://linktr.ee/caritamiller. I’m looking to connect with a wide range of film makers and directors to help them make better soundtracks for projects. Working with local bands and musicians is important because it lets them access Detroit’s diverse and rich music scene. This builds community support and shows off the city’s unique sound. However, I do like to work with artist all over the world. Working closely with film directors and producers makes sure that music and visual storytelling go together smoothly. This helps make stories in movies and other visual projects that are emotionally powerful. Working with advertising agencies and brands can lead to business opportunities that can help promote both curated tracks and the local music scene as a whole, while also making money. I can put together live events, concerts, and festivals by getting in touch with local event organizers and venues. This helps the community get involved and brings more attention to local artists. Working with digital platforms and streaming services helps me keep up with changes in the industry. This way, I can make sure that the music I choose fits with people’s tastes and reaches more people online. Building relationships with music publishers, licensing agencies, and sound engineers makes it easier to get permission to use the tracks for commercial purposes and guarantees that the tracks are of the highest technical quality. Working with local radio stations, DJs, and arts groups gives you access to a wide range of people, which helps you build a fan base in your area and celebrates Detroit’s cultural diversity. Basically, a planned and varied group of partnerships helps me create soundscapes that accurately reflect the changing musical scene in Detroit.

As an artist manager based in Detroit, I’m always looking for ways to work with a wide range of people and organizations to help my artists’ careers grow. I’m also looking for ways to work together with local musicians and bands. This will give my artists a chance to be a part of Detroit’s lively and varied music scene, while also building community spirit and giving them chances to show off their work. I think it’s important for artists to build relationships with local event planners and venue owners in order to get live performance opportunities, gain local fans, and become better known in the community. I’d like to work with record labels and A&R reps because it opens doors to possible partnerships, distribution deals, and promotional help for my artists, which increases their reach and connections in the industry. Working with digital platforms, streaming services, and social media influencers would help my artists have a strong online presence that would keep them relevant as the music industry changes. I want to make connections with advertising agencies and brands that can lead to business opportunities. This will give my artists more exposure and help them make more money in different ways. I’d like to work with music bloggers, journalists, and local media outlets to help my artists get press coverage, reviews, and interviews. This would add to the stories of my artists and make them more visible in the local and national music scenes. Working with business and legal experts, like entertainment lawyers and other managers, will also help me make sure that my artists’ interests are protected in contracts, which will help them have careers that last and are moral. In essence, a strategic network of partnerships gives the artist manager the tools to handle the complicated music business and find ways to help my artists’ careers grow in Detroit’s ever-changing arts scene.
