Hi Carline, appreciate you sitting with us today. Maybe we can start with a topic that we care deeply about because it’s something we’ve found really sets folks apart and can make all the difference in whether someone reaches their goals. Self discipline seems to have an outsized impact on how someone’s life plays out and so we’d love to hear about how you developed yours?

Growing up in Haiti, my passion for photography and food ignited a fire within me. I was captivated by the art of freezing moments in time with a simple click of a camera button. As I grew older, my interest in creating recipes using exotic hot peppers and a mixture of different spices flourished over the years. I dedicated countless hours experimenting with recipes to craft the perfect hot sauce. This pursuit of excellence cultivated a deep well of self-discipline within me.
The strong work ethic instilled in me from a young age laid the groundwork for me to navigate through the challenges that life threw my way. One significant challenge that truly put my self-discipline to the test was when I took the brave step of starting my own business in 2009. The journey was riddled with uncertainties, setbacks, and moments of self-doubt. However, armed with unwavering determination and a steadfast commitment to self-discipline, I persevered through the obstacles and successfully built an Award-Winning Brand of Gourmet Hot Sauces.
Through this journey, I learned that it was my tenacity and self-discipline that propelled me forward in the face of adversity. Each trial I encountered served as a stepping stone, pushing me closer to my goals and reinforcing the importance of discipline in achieving success. The challenges I faced not only highlighted my ability to overcome obstacles but also fostered a resilience in me that continues to drive me towards new heights in my entrepreneurial endeavors.

Ms. Carline Phanor’s journey from Haiti to New York City and eventually to Miami is a true tale of passion and perseverance. After falling in love with the Caribbean lifestyle during a trip back to Haiti, she decided to make it her permanent home. Known for her warmth, charisma, and unique fashion sense, Ms. Phanor honed her culinary skills while working at a restaurant in Haiti, eventually opening her own restaurant and creating her own hot sauce, “MEN PA’W.” This gourmet hot sauce quickly gained popularity and is now available in stores and restaurants across the United States, Canada, and Haiti. Ms. Phanor’s dedication and talent have earned her recognition, including winning The Hot Pepper Award in 2013.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back on my journey as a business owner of Men Paw Gourmet Hot Sauce, one of the most important qualities that I believe were most impactful in my success was passion.
Passion: Without a deep passion for what you do, it can be challenging to navigate the ups and downs of entrepreneurship. Passion drives motivation, creativity, and resilience, so I highly recommend pursuing a business venture that you are truly passionate about.
For those who are early in their entrepreneurial journey, my advice is to focus on developing these qualities, skills, and areas of knowledge. Embrace your passion, cultivate perseverance, and hone your adaptability to navigate the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. Remember that entrepreneurship is a journey, not a destination, so stay committed to your goals and keep moving forward with determination and resilience. Good luck on your entrepreneurial journey!

An ideal client for our company would be a food enthusiat who appreciates a gourmet hot sauce that will compliment their meal. What people look for in the MEN PA’W brand is Gourmet quality, that
Compliments a variety of meals, worldwide! We are
Available in many retail supermarkets and bodegas. As for some of the characteristics we look for in our partnership such as with the Hyatt Regency Hotel is business outreach, and brand visibility opportunities, through collaborations which depict by our partnership with the Royal Caribbean cruise line to Labadee, Haiti. Being featured on their condiment station allows us to engage with a large number of guests, offering a unique, and flavorful experience that enhances every meal. The market exposure facilitated by collaborations like this are invaluable to our brand, and we are appreciative of the opportunity to introduce Men Pa’w to a broader audience.
