Meet Carlos Rodriguez

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Carlos Rodriguez. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Carlos below.

Carlos, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

I have always been a heavy person, and during my youth, I was also very shy and timid. This combination often attracted criticism, even from those who were supposed to love me.

People would say things like, “You’ll never be able to do this,” or “You’ll never do that.” Strangely enough, these remarks gradually fueled my courage.

I spent time with my older cousins, Anthony and Chris, who have both passed away now. They often protected me from being bullied or jumped, and I remember thinking how brave and cool they were. They were definitely my heroes when I was young.

I can’t pinpoint exactly when it happened, but one day I decided I had enough. From that moment on, I resolved to always have my own back.

Through the good, bad, and indifferent, I love being me and the person I am.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

My wife and I own a video production company where I serve as a video strategist. I help businesses achieve their goals by crafting strategies based on emotion-driven video marketing.

What I love most about my work is meeting people with a vision and a goal, and assisting them in realizing that vision. I enjoy hearing their stories and struggles, and transforming those narratives into videos that help their brands grow.

My goal is to work with more clients in the mental health field, as this is a cause I am deeply passionate about.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Keep an open mind, be optimistic and positive.

My advice to people would be to surround yourself with a good mentor and supportive people that are further along in their journey. A positive environment is also very important.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?

You’ve likely heard the saying, “You can never become successful by yourself.” Over the past year, I’ve sought out mentors and coaches who provide invaluable guidance and a sense of community. The coaching group I joined, comprised of creatives, offers tremendous support for navigating the challenges entrepreneurs face. Additionally, I’ve joined two pickleball groups that help keep me motivated, both in terms of my health and maintaining a positive outlook.
