Meet Carlus Reed

We were lucky to catch up with Carlus Reed recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Carlus , we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
I developed confidence and self-esteem by learning how to keep promises I make to myself. Im not perfect at it by any means. But taking the time to develop that skill has made a huge difference in my self integrity. When I made the decision to start the journey to create the body that I wanted on the outside, It changed and developed who I was on the inside. Gave me a sense of purpose. A place to belong to. A goal to work toward. Helped me begin to believe in myself. And to appreciate the fruits of that labor. When I became sober that resolve became stronger. Especially when I had to spend the time picking up the pieces and mending the inner parts of me back together in a better way after so many years of being a drunk. Everything you’ve ever wanted is on the other side of consistency. The consistency in all of that is what gives me the opportunity to continue to develop my confidence and self-esteem.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am a fitness and longevity coach. I train people how to live better, stronger, younger and look great naked for as long as you can! Starting with the science of training connective tissue and bone density as well as creating a supple mobile body that stands the test of time. I coach people through the psychology and relationship they have to their bodies and to food. What they feel they deserve in life and their self worth. So part of that is I also mentor people as well.

The most exciting and fulfilling part of what I do is when you see people change right before you eyes. On the outside and inside. I love to see people change how they see themselves. Watching my clients’ many faceted transformations is one of the coolest things ever.

I currently offer one on one in person training as well as one on one online programming tailored to the individual. Meeting them wherever they currently are.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three most important qualities that were pricelessly impactful to me is 1. Developing and working on Self Awareness. 2. Discipline. Discipline in any facet of life is key. 3. My Faith. At least a belief in something higher than you.

My advice for people early in their journey would be: Be More Kind To Yourself. Don’t be in a hurry. Learn as much as you can about you. How you respond to the outside world. What your triggers and narratives are. Why you do the things you do. Do the qualities/tendencies you possess serve you? Find how you acquire the things you need to add to your person that WILL serve you. Do mundane tasks well and learn the art of discipline and don’t ever let it go. Have faith in God. You’re not supposed to have it all figured out. You are worthy or your dreams. You are more than enough. You are loved.

What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
My mother passed away suddenly from colon cancer just a few months ago. That changed everything for me. My biggest challenge now is where do I go from here? What matters and what doesn’t has taken quite a shift. Now my challenge is I want to do more to help people have better lives and I want to be more Kind. I want to live life more, love harder, and be as healthy as I can possibly be. So how do I do all of that and turn it into something that can be career based and help on a very large scale?
