Meet Carolyn Arellano

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Carolyn Arellano. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Carolyn with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

My work ethic is deeply rooted in the hard-working generations of my immigrant family. My father’s parents came to the U.S. from Ecuador with nothing. They started by cleaning homes, eventually opened a restaurant, and even founded a church. My father followed in their footsteps, building his own business alongside his siblings.

On my mother’s side, my grandmother immigrated from Chile with nothing and began cleaning homes to make a living. Over time, she started her own cleaning business and was always working, embodying the spirit of an entrepreneur.

As a young girl, I watched my father drive trucks cross-country to provide for our family. When he opened his mechanic shop, he worked six days a week for the past 30 years, taking only Sundays off to honor his faith and rest, as the Bible commands.

My relentless work ethic is a direct reflection of the generations before me—immigrants who sacrificed, built, and persevered to create a better future.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’m a single mom to two amazing young ladies, living in New York, and my journey into the cleaning industry started out of pure necessity. Six years ago, I was in my 30s, starting over, living at my dad’s house, and just trying to figure out how to pay my bills and take care of my kids. That’s when Spotless Cleaning Service was born.

I had no idea what I was doing at first—I just knew I had to make it work. Within the first year, my business brought in multiple six figures, completely changing my life. In just two years, I was able to scale it fast and create something bigger than I ever imagined.

A couple of years ago, I took another leap—this time into mentoring and content creation full-time. Now, I spend my days consulting, mentoring, creating online courses, and hosting Zoom sessions in both English and Spanish. I also travel the country holding in-person events to help others grow their businesses.

At the end of the day, what really drives me is helping people. There’s nothing better than breaking things down in a way that clicks for someone and seeing them take action that changes their life. That’s what fulfills me, and that’s why I do what I do.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Three key skills that had the biggest impact on my journey were:

    1.    People Skills & Empathy – Being able to truly understand people’s needs, worries, and concerns has been a game changer. Whether it’s connecting with clients, mentoring business owners, or leading a team, empathy has helped me build trust and strong relationships.
    2.    Tech & Social Media Knowledge – I’m completely self-taught when it comes to building websites and leveraging social media to generate income. Learning how to market and sell online has been a major factor in my success.
    3.    A Genuine Passion for Helping Others – I love helping people, and that feeling of making a difference keeps me going. It’s what pushes me to keep teaching, mentoring, and sharing knowledge so others can do better.

For those just starting out, my advice is simple:
    •    Listen to audiobooks – Keep learning and exposing yourself to new ideas.
    •    Build a community – Surround yourself with people who inspire, support, and challenge you.
    •    Know your ideal client – Understand their problems and position yourself as the solution.
    •    Do what you love – When you’re passionate about what you do, it won’t feel like work.

Growth takes time, but when you focus on learning, connecting, and staying true to what you love, success will follow.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?

The person who has been most instrumental in helping me overcome challenges and develop essential skills is my business mentor, Vitaly. I met him six years ago, and from the very beginning, he took me under his wing and taught me nearly everything I know about business.

He helped me understand the power of marketing and sales, but more importantly, he taught me how to truly sell myself and build confidence in my abilities. He was the one who encouraged me to start my own mentorship journey because he saw potential in me that no one else had—not even myself.

Meeting him has been absolutely life-changing, and I am forever grateful for the impact he has had on my life and career.
