Meet Carolyn Lane

We recently connected with Carolyn Lane and have shared our conversation below.

Carolyn, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

Confidence is one of those things that can be shaken at any point in your life, by anything and anyone. A comment, a betrayal, a rejection. In my experience, it isn’t something granted by others; it’s something you build and rebuild, several times throughout your life from the inside. That said, it can be worn down by cruelty or dismissal, especially when you’re young, and you have to claw your way back to yourself again and again.

For me, confidence began with independence. I grew up all over Europe, and in fourth grade, we were living in Paris. I used to ride the Metro to school and would spend weekends exploring the city on my own. That story shocks people in the U.S., but it was totally normal to me. That freedom sharpened my instincts and taught me that solitude could be joyful, not lonely. To this day, wandering through a city alone, headphones on, following nothing but curiosity, is one of my happy places. It reminds me of my strength and self-trust, qualities I’ve leaned on many times since I was that little girl in Paris.

There have also been moments that tested me. In my twenties, I was told I was “too plain-looking” to work at an establishment, despite being a great candidate for the position. I still hear those words sometimes, when I’m having an “off” day, but they’ve also become a filter: I’m not for everyone, and I don’t need to be. I’m the right person’s cup of tea and my own.

Another time, I worked with a bartender who refused to make cocktails for my tables unless I slept with him. He was charming to most, but I saw through it, and actually found him repugnant. That confidence in my intuition and my refusal to trade my dignity for ease only made me stronger. I’ve also been hurt by people I trusted, including a friend who crossed a boundary while I was at my most vulnerable. I got away. I ran. I protected myself. That moment didn’t break me, it confirmed that I will always fight for myself when it counts.

None of these instances took me down because in each one, Irealized I have the strength to fight when needed, still love fiercely without hesitation, to trust my gut, and to look in the mirror and love the woman I see there.

Confidence, to me, isn’t about being loud. It’s about knowing who you are, choosing your response, and staying rooted in your values. It’s the ability to walk into a room and not need to perform. It’s compassion, curiosity, and conviction. It’s not always graceful, but it’s always mine.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

At Cosmic Egg Wellness, I’ve created more than a studio; it’s a sanctuary. A space where women are invited to land softly, exhale fully, and reconnect with the parts of themselves that often get overlooked. Rooted in yoga, sound healing, childbirth education, and postpartum support, my work honors the full arc of womanhood from the tender beginnings of pregnancy to the expansive evolution of midlife and beyond.

One of our signature experiences, Grounded Glow, weaves beauty and restoration into a soul-stirring ritual that has quickly become a sought-after offering. This is a luxurious fusion of beauty and inner healing. It’s a curated experience where women receive a lash service (either tint & lift or a mini set of extensions) while immersed in sound healing, creating a sensory reset for both body and soul.

Our Friday Pop-Up Series featuring Mama & Me Yoga, Hot Mess Crossroads, and Prenatal Yoga creates a rhythm for connection and community, serving as a reset for women in the thick of it. It’s a space where the postpartum and pregnant worlds gently overlap. A place where mamas with babes in arms offer wisdom (and solidarity) to those still waiting to meet their little ones. In the 30-minute window between classes, we gather for Hot Mess Crossroads which is a laid-back but meaningful time to chat, laugh, cry if needed, and hear from a visiting birth professional offering real-life tips, encouragement, and resources. Whether you’re sleep-deprived, muddling your way through it, or somewhere in between, this series reminds you that you’re not alone and that you’re doing an amazing job.

For those drawn to quieter moments or more intimate support, I offer private yoga and sound bath sessions. These are custom-tailored experiences that meet you exactly where you are and offer space to melt into presence, release, and renewal.

You’ll also find me hosting Floating Sound Baths, Quarterly Signature Events, and bringing deep rest to unconventional places through corporate wellness, Airbnb retreats, and private group bookings. Because healing doesn’t have to look one way in particular, and peace doesn’t have to wait for the perfect conditions.

This winter, I’ll be leading a deeply restorative Overnight Women’s Retreat, offering a rare chance to step away and come home to yourself among kindred spirits and quiet magic.

At the heart of it all is this: I believe women deserve to be held, witnessed, and reminded often that they are not alone, and never too much.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, the three qualities that have shaped my journey most profoundly are intuition, adaptability, and the ability to hold space with compassion.

Intuition has been my inner compass. It’s the quiet nudge that says, “This way,” even when the path isn’t clear. Learning to trust that whisper has guided every big leap and gentle pivot in my life and work. My advice? Create space for stillness so you can hear your own inner guidance, it knows more than you think.

Adaptability has allowed me to evolve, reimagine, and grow even when things didn’t go according to plan (which, let’s be honest, is often). I’ve learned to view change not as a threat, but as a creative invitation. If you can loosen your grip on the outcome, you’ll be surprised by what unfolds.

And holding space. This might be my truest superpower. Creating a soft, nonjudgmental place where others can be fully seen and heard is at the heart of everything I do. For those just beginning their journey: presence is powerful. You don’t need to have all the answers. Just start by offering people the gift of your full attention and care.

No matter what your path looks like, show up with curiosity, stay grounded in your values, and give yourself room to grow, rest, and rise again. That’s where the magic lives.

Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?

If I knew I only had a decade left, I don’t think I’d change much because I believe every day should be lived like it’s the last. For me, it’s about being able to close my eyes at night knowing I did the best I could with the tools I had in that moment. I’ve always been able to find joy in the little things, Sitting outside on my patio, bodies of water, the sound of people laughing, the silent buzz of happiness, being in the company of someone I love, the quiet of a moment that feels like mine. That’s not to say it’s always easy. Sometimes it’s exhausting, sometimes heavy. But I refuse to live my life waiting to die, that’s not really living. I’d keep showing up, with open arms and a curious heart, and soak in the messy, beautiful, ordinary magic of it all.
