Meet Carrie Ann McCormick

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Carrie Ann McCormick. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Carrie Ann below.

Carrie Ann, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
My resilience comes from my spiritual practice. I guard my mornings to allow for my most authentic expression and I center myself in it each day. Being grounded in all that I am helps me push through obstacles. Usually, it’s not the obstacle that is the problem, but my attitude toward it. By keeping my spirit well, I can move through obstacles with grace.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
In this chapter of my personal coach journey, I am focused on putting my methods to use to achieve my goals. I am reading and re-reading my memoir and working through the workbook prompts as I create my MORE Embodied Living Cards for Connection decks. These decks allow for those who have found themselves off the mark to recalibrate to the essence of who they are. There are micr0 movements embedded in the short prompts and the cards can be used solo, with a friend, or in a small (or large) group. These practices work independently, but in combination, they are transformative. Yoga and embodiment coaching can complement a healing journey so well.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Discipline, consistency, and stillness have been the greatest contributors to my success. Becoming aware of my own self-sabatage and outdated patterns gave me an awareness of what was holding me back. If you are on a journey to discover MORE of what sparks joy and brings life to you, I would encourage stillness and learning to listen to your intuition to guide you to your goals. Discipline and consistency will always be key, so move as though it’s your mission – because it is!

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
Choosing just one book is quite challenging, so I’ve got to drop the key three. The Alchemist, The Four Agreements, and The Prophet all provide immense value for me. Each is chock full of wisdom to validate us as humans and help us to understand what we are doing here. The Alchemist reminds us that the treasure we seek is seeking us. The Prophet is a manual for life, guiding us to the middle way, and supporting us through cultural programming that contributes to our misunderstandings of our role on earth. Ancient Toltec wisdom in The Four Agreements sets us up for success by simplifying an approach to life that includes key agreements: “Be impeccable with your word, Don’t take anything personally, Don’t make assumptions, and Always do your best. Apply daily and with a pure heart and your life will change.
